Diablo 4 was announced quite a while ago, back at BlizzCon 2019. It is something that all fans of the ARPG genres have been waiting for. However, similar to all their other games, Blizzard has been taking a lot of time working on Diablo 4.

In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase everything available about Diablo 4 so far, including the expected release date, classes, and gameplay.

1. Diablo 4 Release Date (Official)

Initially, the game was expected to come out in late 2022. However, it has been delayed to 2023 instead. Outside of this reveal, no specific date is available.

Diablo 4 Min

Diablo 4 will launch on pretty much all platforms: from PC, current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X) to last-generation consoles (PS4 & Xbox One). The game will also have crossplay and cross-progression across all platforms. Players will need a Battle.Net account for that, of course.

According to the GM of the Diablo franchise, public beta testing will come out in 2023.

2. Diablo 4 Storyline: What Is the Game About?

In Diablo 3 and its expansion, pretty much all the prime Evils and most of the angels have been destroyed. Diablo 4 takes place a few years after the events of its predecessor and is going to feature Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto. She will likely be the upcoming title’s main antagonist.

Diablo 4 Campaign Length

In an interview with Gamespot, Diablo 4 director Joe Shely officially confirmed that the game’s campaign will be a 35-hour experience. The world of Sanctuary will expand even further, with a number of new, expansive regions.

The devs have uploaded a number of videos showcasing the new regions:

Classes

Diablo 4 Classes Best 11

Similar to Diablo 2 and 3, Diablo 4 will launch with five classes:

  • Barbarian: A brutal, physical warrior, the Barbarian roams around the battlefield constantly, dishing heavy damage and wielding an array of powerful weapons with ease.
  • Sorceress: The Sorcerer is described as a "high risk, high reward" style of hero, harnessing potent elemental magic, but being fragile. Their spells are designed around Fire, Cold, and Lightning abilities.
  • Druid: The master of shapeshifting makes his triumphant return to Sanctuary! Seamlessly changing forms from human to Werebear to Werewolf, his command over earth and storm magic is second to none.
  • Rogue: The Rogue is an adaptable, agile warrior who can specialize in ranged or close-quarters combat. This class combines aspects of the original Rogue, the Amazon, Assassin and Demon Hunter.
  • Necromancer: Necromancers are cunning summoners that conjure vengeful hordes of the undead. Their Essence flows into three powerful bastions of Bone, Blood, or Shadow to bring low their enemies.

Map system

Diablo 4 will be an open-world adventure that sees players travel between various hubs. This means players would be able to travel between regions, just like in previous diablo games.

To add more visual variety and challenge, these regions will have day/ night cycles along with a weather-changing system.

Additionally, the game will feature hundreds of dungeons, which will be randomly generated. It also has a non-linear storyline and players won’t be forced to stick to a particular quest order.

New Skill System

Blizzard has taken fans' feedback about the bad skill system in Diablo 3 and reworked the skill system in Diablo 4 extensively. The Diablo 4 skill system would look like a tree, with separate sections for Skills and Passives.

Skill Tree

Players can only fill 30-40% of the nodes in the endgame, so they need to build their own skill set carefully. The passives section will hold more general upgrades to your character.

Misc

  • While Diablo 3 had monsters classified into categories like demons, unholy, and undead, Diablo 4 is coming out with even more monster families.
  • The game has a deeper level of weapon customization that sits somewhere between Diablo 2 and 3.
  • There are three new stats affecting the on-hit effect.

4. Diablo 4 Endgame is Different

Diablo 4

Paragon Board

Players will be able to access the Paragon Board in Diablo 4 once they reach level 50. Each paragon tile you earn will give your character a bonus or a boost that makes you stronger.

Diablo 4 PvP and Online Modes

Diablo 4 is an always-online game. This means players will see other players in open-world activities. There will also be world events that other players can attend.

Blizzard has now confirmed that PvP is coming back to the upcoming Diablo 4 game. However, it would be a completely optional mechanic - you can skip it entirely if you don't want interruptions.

While there won't be an offline mode, Diablo 4 will get couch co-op support.

Will Diablo 4 Have Microtransactions?

Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 is not pay-to-win. While the game will be coming with microtransactions, paid content will center on cosmetics and eventually full expansions.
