Kalypso Media studio just announced that they formed a new studio to explicitly work on a new Commandos title. This studio will be placed in the Greater Frankfurt area. It doesn't have a name yet, but we have got the information about the Studio Director, Jürgen Reußwig, who was the Managing Director of Games Distillery and the former Studio manager of Sunflower.
The Commandos series is one of the best strategy stealth game series of the 2000s. All the games in the series are set in World War II. You will be controling a team of British specialists in the enemy's territory to complete different tasks. Each of them has their own unique tools, weapons, abilities to maneuver in different situations.
All Commandos games are extremely hard. While they don't require you to have an insane reflection or special skills, you need to have a strategic mind to come up with a good plan for each of your men to complete the mission. The most important thing in this game series to stay stealthy or the enemy will be alarmed and make the mission a thousand times harder. If you have played any Commandos game when you were young, there is a good chance that you haven't finished it yet because it is too hard. That is all right because I haven't beat the first mission of Commandos 2 myself yet.
According to the Studio Director of Kalypso in an interview, this would be a long term commitment from the studio and he was looking forward to creating a worthy title for this legendary strategy franchise.
Earlier this year, the studio also announced an HD Remaster version of Commandos 2. The game will be released on |January 25, 2020 for PC (Steam).
