Researchers from Oxford University recently released a new study, in which they stated there was no significant connection between violent video game and aggressive behaviors in young players in the real world.

Is it the truth that Video Game Violence Links to Children?

According to the published study, researchers did carry out over 1,000 interviews with adult gamers as well as their caretakers around players’ gaming experiences. Researchers then observed and evaluated gamers’ experience in various aspects. One hypothesis using in the study was that the more time people spent playing video games, the more aggressive behavior might appear, and also led to less prosocial behavior. However, the finding result is actually quite different.

“The idea that violent video games drive real-world aggression is a popular one, but it hasn’t tested very well over time,” shared professor Andrew Przybylski, the University of Oxford.

There is no correlation between playing violent video games and aggressive behaviors

“Despite an interest in the topic by parents and policy-makers, the research has not demonstrated that there is cause for concern. Part of the problem in technology research is that there are many ways to analyze the same data, which will produce different results. A cherry-picked result can add undue weight to the moral panic surrounding video games. The registered study approach is a safeguard against this.”, Andrew Przybylski added.

Nevertheless, via analyzing the Oxford study, the opposite has shown as there is no correlation between playing violent video games and aggressive behaviors. Therefore, this leads to a statement that the link between the two factors has no pragmatic or helpful usage in reality. These analyses recommend that there may be bias from researchers in previous studies which exposed significant connections between violent gaming and hostile behavior, as they can be appropriately used for multiple types of experimental variables.

Control yourself and behave properly within the game, and it will not be transferred into the real world!

After all, gamers needn’t be worried and games are not deserved to receive the discrimination. In the long term, spending much time on gaming sessions, such as first-person perspective shooters and multiplayer online battle arenas, will not influence your aggressiveness. Nevertheless, ephemeral hostile behaviors could appear in several conditions like competing or trash-talking. The importance is that you can control yourself and behave properly within the game, and it will not be transferred into the real world.
