Minecraft’s world is packed with all sorts of mobs. You’ve got villagers to trade with, hostile mobs to dodge or fight, and animal mobs you can tame or use for resources. But even after years of updates since the game dropped, it’s still missing some animal variety.

This post lists out five animals that fans are itching for and that the developers should think about tossing into the game.

1) Mole

Minecraft is all about digging, especially when you’re hunting for diamonds. So it’s kind of weird there’s no mob that’s all about burrowing. The sniffer mob exists, but it doesn’t spawn on its own and doesn’t do much.

Mojang could add a mole mob that players can tame to help with digging. Picture a cute little guy that clears out a chunk of dirt or stone in just a few minutes.

2) Duck

There aren’t a ton of animals in Minecraft, but you’ll spot a few wandering around. The skies, though? Pretty empty except for the annoying phantom. Adding ducks could fix that.

With the Mounts of Mayhem update out, ducks would make oceans and rivers feel busier. They could pop up on land or water, making the blocky world feel more alive.

3) Skunk

A skunk would be a cool twist since it could double as a hostile mob. It’d wander around like any other animal, but if you mess with it, it’d spray you with poison.

That spray could slap you with a negative status effect, and maybe you could collect it to whip up some nasty potions for fighting. Maybe the next update should just go all-in on new animals.

4) Penguin

Penguins have a solid shot at making it into the game. They were part of the 2023 Mob Vote but didn’t win. Still, Mojang’s added losing mobs before, like the copper golem, so there’s hope.

These guys could chill in the snowy biomes, which right now only have polar bears for company.

5) Raven

Ravens would be a great fit, not just for filling out the world but for adding new gameplay. Lots of players are into farming crops, and ravens could swoop in to munch on them if you don’t protect your fields. Mojang could build a whole farming-focused update with new crops, plants, mechanics, and these pesky birds.
