All Minecraft weapons ranked after Mounts of Mayhem update

Now there are seven main melee and ranged weapons, each with upsides and downsides.

In the Mounts of Mayhem update, Mojang added the spear to Minecraft. It's a basic melee weapon with two attacks, and damage ramps up with your speed.

Here are all Minecraft weapons ranked from worst to best.

7) Crossbow

The crossbow fires arrows as a ranged weapon. Its shots hit harder than a bow's, but the long reload time drags it down. It works well against swarms of enemies, especially with multishot and piercing enchantments.

6) Spear

The spear came with Mounts of Mayhem. It has jab for standing attacks and charge when you hold the interact button and run at enemies. Charge damage grows with your movement speed.

That said, it's slow to use and you cannot throw it. It's simple to get, but the trident serves better as a spear option.

5) Mace

The mace arrived in the Tricky Trials update. This heavy hammer deals more damage based on how far you fall before hitting the enemy. It stands out as one of the most fun weapons.

Its rarity hurts it though. You craft it with a heavy core and breeze rods. Normal swings are also sluggish due to the weight.

4) Trident

The trident is special since you cannot craft it and it handles both melee jabs and ranged throws. It packs unique enchantments like one to call lightning and another to propel you forward when wet.

Solid as a weapon and tool, but rare. Drowned zombies drop it rarely, and they spawn with one infrequently.

3) Axe

Axes chop wood mainly, but they hit hard as weapons too.

They outdamage swords, but need more time to recover for full swings. Plenty of players prefer axe handling to swords.

2) Bow

The bow tops ranged weapons. Reload arrows fast, and infinity enchantment means endless shots with just one arrow in inventory. Craft it easily from sticks and string.
