Embark Studios has confirmed that the next major content drop for ARC Raiders, titled Frozen Trail, will arrive on October 8, 2026. The studio describes it as the biggest update since the game’s launch and the first major release under its revised schedule of fewer but larger content expansions each year.

In a recent blog post, the team outlined several of the headline additions while noting that fuller details will arrive in September.

New Frozen Map Takes Center Stage

The core of Frozen Trail is a brand-new map set in a harsh, frozen settlement nestled beneath towering mountains at the edge of the Rust Belt. The area was once home to thriving villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory that have long since been abandoned.

Raiders will be called by Shani to investigate an unprecedented signal coming from beyond the mountains, with the promise that something significant has occurred there. The map emphasizes greater verticality, exploration, and opportunities for discovery. Players can expect threats both above and below ground across what is described as the largest map released for the game so far. The development team recently completed user experience research testing and continues to iterate on the design.

New ARC Threats and High-Level Challenge

Frozen Trail introduces multiple new ARC enemy types designed to challenge how players move, fight, and adapt. These range from a small and nifty problem-maker to an enormous machine capable of stopping Raiders in their tracks. Creating these enemies involves extensive work on concepts, animation, behavior, and machine learning systems.

Alongside the new foes comes an enormous new ARC Operation aimed at experienced players. The activity focuses on meaningful decisions, dynamic encounters, and situations that demand cooperation and careful judgment. Embark has called it one of the most intense experiences the game has offered to date, with success requiring a balance of combat, teamwork, risk, and survival. More specifics will be shared closer to launch.

Deeper Progression Systems

The update expands what it means to progress as a Raider. The familiar Raider Den gives way to a new space called the Outpost. Players will be able to decorate their Outpost, research new elements of the world, and begin taking steps toward reclaiming the surface after months spent underground.

The Skill Tree is also receiving adjustments to provide more agency in shaping the kind of Raider players want to become. Raider Decks are under review as well, with the goal of making them more engaging and rewarding.

Additional Content and Ongoing Improvements

Beyond the major pillars, Frozen Trail will add new weapons along with ways to personalize them, plus gadgets, cosmetics, instruments, and other surprises still under wraps. The team continues work on matchmaking, anti-cheat, stability, and quality-of-life updates to keep the core experience balanced and enjoyable.

Players can expect more information in September. Until then, Embark has invited fans attending gamescom in Cologne to stop by and experience ARC Raiders in person.

The October 8 release marks a clear shift toward larger, more ambitious content drops for the extraction shooter.
