A big fan of Battlefield 6 decided to compare the map sizes in the new game to those in Battlefield 4 from 2013. Turns out, the playable parts in BF6 aren't as tiny as they seem.
Ever since the Battlefield 6 open beta started, players have been giving EA all sorts of feedback, good and bad. But one thing that keeps coming up is how small the maps feel, and they don't give that classic Battlefield experience. Sure, not all maps from the full game are in the beta, but it's fair to complain about the ones that are.
Battlefield 6 Player Compares Controversial Map Sizes To BF4
People often think of Battlefield 4 as from the best times of the series, so a Redditor named majorlier compared the map sizes in BF6 to BF4. They focused on the playable areas where the fights happen, and the findings are pretty eye-opening. For BF6's Liberation Peak, it's about the same size as Siege of Shanghai and Paracel Storm, but smaller than Zavod 311 and Caspian Border.
On the other hand, BF6's Siege of Cairo is smaller than BF4's Dawnbreaker, Siege of Shanghai, and Pearl Market, but it's way more packed. So yeah, the maps in BF6 are smaller, but the way they're designed makes them feel even tinier. Size-wise, they're not that different from BF4, but other folks in the discussion said the maps push you into certain paths and spots, with narrow hallways, lots of details, clutter, and quicker respawns, which might be why people are annoyed.
The upside is that a producer for BF6 has hinted at bigger maps in the full version, so fans wanting the old-school Battlefield feel should get it when the game launches on October 10. It's probably too late to change the current maps much, but it'll be cool to see if this feedback influences future maps in BF6.
