Spike Chunsoft posted the official PC requirements for Danganronpa 2x2, and the recommended list reads like someone copied a mid-tier 4K shooter sheet onto a visual novel. The game still lives on sprites, class trials, and shouting "Objection" with extra steps. The recommended build wants 32 GB of RAM and an RTX 4070 or RX 7700 XT anyway.

Release date: January 14, 2027. Platforms: PC (Steam, Epic), Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developer: Gemdrops. Publisher: Spike Chunsoft.

What the game actually is

This is a remake of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair plus a second campaign. Original Mode retells the 2012 story with new art. Slayhem Mode keeps the same island and cast, then changes the victims, culprits, and tricks. Slayhem is about 20 percent longer.

The one real technical upgrade is a 3D island map instead of the old side-scrolling travel screen. That is neat. It is not "please buy a 4070" neat.

Official PC specs

Windows 11 64-bit and DirectX 12 only. No Windows 10 listing. Storage is listed as 40 GB free, though other official figures put the actual PC size closer to 23 GB.

PC resolutions go from 720p to 4K. Recommended is tied to 60 fps. HDR is not supported on any version, which is almost funny next to a 4070 recommendation.

Yes, fans noticed

The old PC port of Goodbye Despair ran on a toaster with manners. This list asks for hardware that can play actual 3D games at high settings. Reddit's short version: a 4070 for a slideshow with extra steps. Someone asked if every line of dialogue is stored in one giant switch statement. Someone else wanted a flight simulator packed into Jabberwock Island to justify the RAM.

Minimum specs are the only numbers that make sense. An RTX 2060 and 8 GB of RAM should be enough to click evidence and survive a class trial. The recommended column looks like a 4K 60 fps wish list written with a very large safety margin, or a spec sheet that never got edited after the 3D map went in.

Consoles do not need a 4070 either

  • Switch / Switch 2: 1080p docked, 30-60 fps that changes by scene. Switch handheld drops to 720p.
  • PS5 and Xbox Series X: 4K at 60 fps.
  • Xbox Series S: 1080p at 60 fps.

Console installs are roughly 10 to 22 GB. There is no save transfer between Switch and Switch 2. If a handheld can run this at 1080p, your midrange PC does not need last-gen flagship energy to read Nagito's monologues in 1440p.
