In an announcement earlier today in an earning call of EA, CFO of the company, Mr. Blake Jorgensen confirmed that Dragon Age 4 is still under development in the company. However, fans of the franchise will have to wait for a long time until the game got released, as the game still takes two or three years of development until it's ready to be released.
According to EA, fans of the franchise can expect to be able to play the game in the Fiscal Year of 2022 - which is 3 years from now. The Fiscal Year of 2022 will run from April 1, 2021, until March 31, 2022. Along with that, as the game is still in the early phase, there are still many things to be decided regarding how the game will be developed.
The Dragon Age 4 project was first revealed during The Game Awards event back in December 2018. During the event, gamers have been shown a teaser trailer that reveals the artifacts of the Dragon Age universe, along with the Hashtag: "The Dread Wolf Rises." Along with that, back in a BioWare blog post in 2018, Mark Darrah has confirmed that they have developed Dragon Age 4 for 'quite a while', with the involvement of the teams that worked on previous games in the franchise. With this, the goal of BioWare for the new game is to push the storytelling to the next level. And as expected, Matthew Goldman also involved in the project as the Creative Director - along with many big names in the industry.
The last game that got released from the franchise was 2014's Dragon Age: Inquisition - and despite the commercial success of the game, no plans for the sequel have been announced until last year - which cast some doubt about BioWare's plan to kill off the franchise. Luckily for us all, that's not the case.
