Funcom has rolled out Update 1.5 for Dune: Awakening, the open-world survival game set on Arrakis. Deluxe and Ultimate edition owners on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can start playing today, five days before the full console launch on September 22. The same patch brings a long-requested single-player mode to every platform, including PC.

Console Players Get In Early

Head start is live for players who bought the higher-tier editions. The wider console release follows on September 22, when the game also joins Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Play Anywhere is supported, so progress can move between Xbox consoles, the Microsoft Store on PC, cloud play, and handheld devices such as the ROG Xbox Ally.

Console versions include Performance and Quality graphics modes. Performance targets 60fps with dynamic 4K. Quality targets 30fps with a sharper image. PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X use higher native resolution in both modes. Full cross-play with PC is planned for a later update, not at launch.

Solo Play, Your Way

Single-player was one of the most requested features after the June 2025 PC launch. Players now choose solo or multiplayer at the start. Existing multiplayer characters cannot move into solo mode, so a new character is required.

Solo worlds include three difficulty presets or full manual sliders. You can change harvest rates, crafting costs, enemy health, experience gain, item durability, heat and thirst, and even whether sandworms and storms appear. Settings can be adjusted mid-play. The Landsraad still exists, but rival houses are simulated. Deep Desert progress and bases persist instead of wiping on a server reset. The exchange acts as a vendor rather than a player auction house.

Story Close and Combat Tweaks

Update 1.5 also finishes Book One with new story hours, retroactive mission rewards, and instanced quests. The main menu is now character-focused, so you pick a sleeper and the mode you want each session. Full recustomization is available, including new options.

Melee combat received a pass, with changes to parrying, stamina, and enemy balance. Dual Blades and the Pyrocket join the arsenal, and the Rapier was reworked. The Landsraad endgame now uses repeatable missions instead of resource turn-ins. Returning players who have been away more than 28 days get a gift based on research tier. Anyone who logs in between September 17 and October 22 receives Matron's Decor.

What to Watch Next

The $9.99 Filmic Archive cosmetic pack, inspired by the recent Dune films, arrives with the full console launch on September 22. Steam currently has a discount running through early October. Official patch notes and known issues are posted on Funcom's site. For players who wanted Arrakis without a crowded server, the wait is over.
