Sensor Tower data shows GTA 6 pulling far ahead of other major releases in the US digital pre-order market. The game has recorded 6.08 million digital pre-orders in the United States, generating around $594 million in pre-launch revenue.

These figures place GTA 6 well clear of recent blockbusters at the same point before release. It sits 148% ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by the same measurement. The gap underscores the exceptional demand for Rockstar’s long-awaited open-world title.

Platform split heavily favors PlayStation:

  • 74% of pre-orders are on PlayStation
  • 26% are on Xbox

The numbers cover only US digital pre-orders tracked by Sensor Tower. They do not include physical copies, international markets, or any other regions. As a result, they do not represent GTA 6’s total global sales or overall pre-order performance.

Even with those limits, the data highlights unusually strong early momentum. A nearly $600 million pre-launch haul from digital sales in one country alone points to massive interest months before launch. The PlayStation majority also continues a pattern seen with previous Rockstar releases, where the platform often captures the larger share of early buyers.

GTA 6’s position relative to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 stands out in particular. Modern Warfare 2 was itself a major commercial success, yet GTA 6 has already more than doubled its pre-order volume at the comparable stage. That comparison offers one of the clearest available benchmarks for how far ahead the game currently sits in the US digital space.

Full launch performance will depend on many factors beyond these early US figures, including reviews, marketing in other markets, and the size of the physical and international audiences. For now, the Sensor Tower numbers confirm GTA 6 is tracking as one of the biggest pre-order stories in recent gaming history within the markets they measure.
