Rockstar Games has restricted access to multiple gambling features at the Diamond Casino & Resort in GTA Online for players in Australia. The change was first reported by players around July 28, 2026, and confirmed through data mining. It prevents Australian accounts from using several core casino activities just months before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
What Features Are Now Blocked
Players can still enter the casino building, purchase or sell chips, and claim the daily free 1,000 chips. However, any attempt to place a wager triggers a message stating the feature is not available. The disabled activities include blackjack, roulette, three-card poker, slot machines, Inside Track horse racing, the Lucky Wheel daily spin, and related house functions. Private blackjack tables inside player-owned penthouses are also inaccessible.
The restriction appears under an internal flag labeled Gambling_Restricted_Geographic. Rockstar has not issued a public statement explaining the timing. Similar location-based limits have applied in dozens of other countries since the Diamond Casino update launched in 2019. Australia was not among the originally restricted regions at launch but has now joined that list.
Why the Restriction Happened
The move aligns with Australia’s evolving rules around simulated gambling and classifications. GTA Online received an updated consumer advice note after a recent reclassification for newer consoles that no longer references simulated gambling in the same way. This matches requirements introduced in recent years for high-impact simulated gambling content. Australia has also tightened broader online wagering rules, including restrictions on certain payment methods for licensed operators.
The Diamond Casino & Resort has been a fixture of GTA Online for seven years. Rockstar continued promoting casino-related content, including chip bonuses and penthouse offers, as recently as late 2025. The Lucky Wheel remains popular because it offers free daily rewards such as vehicles and clothing.
Connection to GTA VI and Company Outlook
This development arrives as Rockstar prepares for the November 19, 2026, launch of GTA VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game is priced at $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Preorders began in June 2026. Take-Two Interactive has forecast fiscal 2027 net bookings of $8 billion to $8.2 billion, a significant rise from the $6.72 billion recorded in fiscal 2026. Recurrent consumer spending accounted for 78 percent of the prior year’s total.
The broader Grand Theft Auto franchise has sold more than 470 million units, with GTA V alone exceeding 230 million. GTA Online continues to generate more than $150 million per quarter. Rockstar has not confirmed whether GTA VI will include an online component or any casino-style features. Australian players seeking the full casino experience have limited official options, and workarounds such as VPNs carry their own risks.
