Overwatch Season 5, subtitled A Grim Doctrine, launches on October 6, 2026. Blizzard is pairing a vampire Support hero with a limited Solo Leveling crossover, a Halloween battle pass, and two major hero reworks. The season also closes the Reign of Talon story and adds the first new Escort map in nearly four years.

Doctrine joins the roster

Doctrine is a vampire-themed Support tied to Doomfist's past. He was held in an Icelandic volcanic prison, and his breakout sets the final chapter of Reign of Talon in motion. His kit is built around lifeforce rather than standard healing beams.

Eternal Scepter is a mid-range weapon that heals allies and damages enemies. Infuse charges the next ability: the scepter fires a larger piercing blast, Shrouded Momentum turns a damage-reduced rush into free flight, and Invigorating Drones can be sent to an ally and to Doctrine himself. Those bat-like drones grant attack speed and healing. His ultimate, Deliverance, launches a swarm that grants allies Overhealth and cuts enemy maximum health. He uses the Survivor subrole, so movement abilities feed a passive health regen.

He arrives with Watchpoint: Grimsvotn, the prison map where Doomfist breaks him out. Ultimate battle pass buyers also get the Crimson Regent Doctrine legendary skin.

Solo Leveling skins, limited to October 26

The Overwatch x Shadow Monarch collab runs from October 6 through October 26. Five heroes take on Hunter and Shadow Soldier looks from the series:

  • Reinhardt as Iron
  • Lifeweaver as Choi Jong-In

Halloween pass and roster changes

The battle pass leans fully into Halloween. Legendary rewards include Ghostly Belle Ashe, Jack O' Ripper Soldier: 76, Ghost Bride Mei, Bat Empress Junker Queen, and Autumn Fox Zenyatta. Epic skins cover Skelly Bastion, Witching Hour Brigitte, and Spectral Shroud Symmetra. Mythic rewards include Dragon Shaoxia Wuyang and Lucio's Treblemaker weapon, which houses a tiny breakdancing frog. The Ultimate pass also adds Ghost Voyager Venture.

Two roster shifts land with the season. Sombra moves from Damage to Support, with healing tools that can be used while invisible. Roadhog gets a tank rework aimed at making him more useful to his team. Mystery Madness: Graveyard Games is the seasonal mode, and Dokiwatch shop skins return.
