Who Is Jason Duval in GTA 6?

Backstory

Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. He joined the Army to leave his troubled teens behind. Service did not give him a clean break. Afterward he ended up in the Leonida Keys doing what he already knew, working for local drug runners.

At the start of the game he lives rent free at a property owned by veteran smuggler Brian Heder. The arrangement is simple. Jason handles shakedowns and other dirty work. Trailers also place him with friend Cal Hampton, drifting through boats, bars, and Keys routines that look like paradise until the job starts.

Rockstar's official line is blunt. Meeting Lucia could be the best or worst thing that ever happens to him.

Traits

Jason is the steadier half of the pair. Footage shows a capable driver, a cover-and-shoot fighter, and someone who stays composed when a job turns violent. His Army past explains the weapon handling. Rockstar has not confirmed rank, unit, or deployments, so the military chapter should be treated as brief service, not special-forces lore.

He is not a crime boss. He is small time on purpose, tired of the grind, and still good at it. Loyalty sits in his official quote: "If anything happens, I'm right behind you."

Role in the Story

GTA 6 is built around the couple. After an easy score goes wrong, Jason and Lucia get pulled into a conspiracy that stretches across Leonida. Players can switch between them on shared jobs, even mid chase, with one driving and the other shooting.

Their relationship is central and not fixed. Shared time, messages, dates, and jobs can strengthen it. The story still needs both of them even when the bond is strained.

Jason is the local Keys operator who knows the water, the landlords, and the low-level circuit. Lucia is the spark that pushes him toward bigger scores. Together they are Rockstar's Bonnie and Clyde pairing: two people who already know the deck is stacked and keep rolling anyway.
