The GTA community has been buzzing with intense discussions online about the potential delay. However, GTA 6 has not been pushed to 2026 from its scheduled Fall 2025 release. Let's find out more.
The speculation started with a Tweet from GTA community member BillsyLiamGTA, which claimed the game was delayed until 2026. The Tweet sparked a frenzy on social media, with the user stating that this information came from multiple developers at two Rockstar Games offices.
“EXCLUSIVE: GTA VI has been internally delayed by Rockstar Games and they’re already decided on the early to mid 2026 release window,” according to the Tweet.
BillsyLiamGTA also revealed details about the PC version of the game. While Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, Rockstar usually releases a PC version about a year after the initial console release. As BillsyLiamGTA claimed, his sources have indicated that the PC port is planned for approximately 12 to 18 months after the console launch.
No delay for GTA 6
As of now, BillsyLiamGTA’s tweet is no longer available. And Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, who previously accurately reported details about GTA 6’s location, story, trailer, and more, has tweeted today dismissing any news of a new delay.
He informed his followers that six different Rockstar Games employees have told him they haven't heard of any delay for GTA VI. However, since the game is still about 12 months away from its planned Fall 2025 release, things could still change. Schreier mentions that given the game's scale, it could potentially move into 2026.
Mr. Schreier followed up with a Tweet suggesting that it’s possible Rockstar’s management decided to delay the game months ago, but those six developers were not informed. He mentioned that the "lack of internal announcement suggests" that BillsyLiamGTA’s claim might not be accurate.
In other GTA 6 news, Rockstar Games reportedly offered $7,500 to the songwriters. One of the writers took to Twitter to voice their frustration with the offer.
