1 - Sleeping Dogs
Sleeping Dogs is an action RPG set in the open world of Hong Kong. Overall, the game is more or less GTA but in a Chinese City, with a different culture and details. The story revolves around Wei Shen, an undercover police agent who's infiltrating the Sun On Yee Triad.
The gameplay focuses on Shen's fighting, shooting and parkour abilities, with the melee combat comparable to that of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Players can fight opponents from any direction with attack, grapple and counter moves. These three basic commands are chained with character movement to create combos - you can also perform environmental attacks for extra damage as well.
There are three types of XP in this game: Triad, Face and Police XP. Each serves a different purpose, with higher levels unlock new abilities like hot-wiring cars and disarming opponents.
2 - Crysis 3
The third game in the Crysis series - one of the graphically intensive "PC destroyers" back in the day. In 2021, however, its system requirements are puny. The story of Crysis 3 revolves around Prophet, a Nanosuit user who's on a quest to take revenge against the leader of an alien race who has invaded Earth.
The game is set in a ruined, post-apocalyptic version of New York City, with both urban landscape and forest. Crysis 3's gameplay revolves around the use of weapons and the nanosuit. Weapon-wise, players can sprint, slide, jump and crouch while using guns or a compound bow to defeat enemies. Explosives like grenades, C4 and melee attacks are also available as well.
The Nanosuit is probably the core in Crysis 3's gameplay, granting players various abilities like going invisible, heat vision, hacking enemies' equipment, and more.

3 - Prototype
Set in the city of Manhattan, Prototype follows a powerful amnesiac shapeshifter named Alex Mercer. His goal is to top a plague outbreak named "Blacklight" that mutates people into violent monsters. His powers are also from the virus, but unlike the mobs, he can control them.
During his quest, Alex needs to uncover his past and deal with hostile forces from the US military and Blackwatch. Control Alex, players can freely roam around and explore Manhattan. All its famous landmarks are in the game, including the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, 40 Wall Street, amongst others.
Alex has the ability to consume the biomass of his enemies to fuel his power. The Combat in Prototype involves the guy turning parts of his body into deadly weapons - from a blade arm to Claws and even a whip. You can also get a shield to block ballistic attacks and even full-body armor.
4 - Assassin's Creed III
Assassin's Creed III is set in a fictional version of real-world events, following the struggle between the Assassins and Templars. The protagonist Miles dives into the memories of his Ancestors with a machine named Animus, trying to find a way to prevent the 2012 apocalypse.
In this game, you would step into the shoes of Connor, an ancestor of Desmond back in the 18th century, during the American Revolution. Connor is able to freely explore 18th-century Boston, New York City, and the American frontier to fight against the Templars. His task is to prevent them from gaining control of the colonies.
Gameplay-wise, the player uses a combination of stealth, parkour, and combat to complete various missions. Aiding this, Connor has access to a wide range of weapons. From range weapons like bow and arrow and muskets to melee weapons like swords and tomahawk. Overall, there are a lot of options for Connor to assassinate his enemies. The iconic assassin's hidden blade is also a great weapon.
5 - Borderlands
Borderlands is an ARPG/FPS set in a unique "space western" fantasy setting. The game lets you explore the world of Pandora as one of the 4 Vault hunters, in a quest of finding the fabled Vault. The mechanic of this game is a perfect blend of a shooter like doom and an RPG with randomized loot like Diablo. There are millions of weapon combinations that you can find in Borderlands, with Orange being the most powerful.
The story is fairly unremarkable, with the four vault hunters racing against a corporation for the keys to open a treasure vault. Each Vault hunter has a different skill tree and one or more unique abilities. Completing quests and defeating foes earns in-game money and experience, which is used for expanding this skill tree.
Co-op is a core feature of Borderland, with the players getting the chance to team up with up to 3 others to tackle the challenges Pandora has to offer.
