NetEase Games and developer Naked Rain have officially locked in the release date for their highly anticipated urban open-world RPG ANANTA. The free-to-play title will launch globally on January 15, 2027.
The announcement came during the Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live showcase on August 25. Alongside the date reveal, the team dropped a new story trailer that introduces Chongxiao, the game’s second major city. Pre-registration is already live across platforms, with the count having surpassed 17 million players worldwide.

Background and Development
ANANTA, formerly known as Project Mugen, first appeared at Gamescom in 2023. It received its official name in late 2024. The game blends anime-style visuals with expansive city exploration, fluid martial arts combat, and a lively modern setting filled with both everyday activities and supernatural threats.
Players step into the role of an agent for the Anti-Chaos Directorate. They team up with unique companions to investigate anomalies across vibrant urban landscapes inspired by real Asian cities. Freedom sits at the core of the experience. Drivers can steal cars, engage in high-octane chases, interact with a wide cast of characters, and dive into side activities that range from nightlife to viral social media moments. Combat emphasizes creativity, letting players turn everyday objects into weapons in Jackie Chan-inspired sequences.
Platforms and Features
The game will arrive on official PC clients, Steam, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android. It launches as a free-to-play title without a character gacha system. Monetization focuses on cosmetics, vehicles, and other customizable elements instead.
With more than three years of development behind it and strong early interest reflected in those pre-registration numbers, ANANTA aims to deliver a fresh take on the open-world formula. The January 15, 2027 date gives the team several more months to polish the experience before players can finally step into Nova City and beyond.
How to Pre-Register
Pre-register now on the official site, Steam, PlayStation Store, App Store, or Google Play to secure launch rewards. The wait for this ambitious urban adventure is almost over.
