Typhoeus is an aerial burst DPS. She leaps into a Hovering state, fires at two targets at once, consumes Nature Infliction to stock Signs, converts those Signs into Hunting Arrows, then spends the arrows on Power Shots that force Nature Burst. She is strongest when a teammate keeps Nature Infliction on the field and you time her Combo and Ultimate around those stacks.

Banner: Winter Hunt, live with Version 1.5 (September 2 to September 30, 2026). Her signature Arts Unit, Umbra of Frigid Eventide, sits in the Deep Cold Arsenal Issue.

How Her Kit Works

Two personal resources drive everything.

Signs
Capped at 8. You gain Signs when Aerial Basic Attacks consume Nature Infliction, and again whenever a Nature Burst triggers on an enemy (multi-target Bursts still count as one Sign). At 8 Signs her Combo becomes available. Every 2 Signs convert into 1 Hunting Arrow.

Hunting Arrows
Capped at 4. Combo converts Signs into Arrows. Ultimate grants 2 Arrows on cast. While Hovering, each Aerial Basic Attack spends 1 Arrow to become a Power Shot: it forces a Nature Burst, and if it also consumed Infliction that Burst hits 1.1 times harder. The 5th shot of a controlled Hover string is always treated as a Final Strike and a Power Shot, and it does not spend an Arrow.

Talent Prey Checklist is the engine. Nature Burst grants extra Signs, Arrow-empowered hits deal 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 times damage depending on talent level, and she starts the fight with 1 / 2 / 4 Signs. That is why she wants a teammate who applies Nature Infliction, then she wants to consume those stacks herself rather than let another unit spend them on a different reaction.

Skills

Wildlands Huntress (Basic Attack)
Five-hit Nature string. The finisher on a Staggered enemy deals huge Nature damage and refunds SP. Dive Attack hits nearby enemies if you drop from mid-air. At max skill rank the fifth hit is 125% ATK and the finisher is 900% ATK.

Piercing Arrows of the Woods (Battle Skill, 100 SP)
Leap into Hovering and fire 5 Aerial Basic Attacks. Each shot can hit two enemies. Hits on Inflicted targets consume 1 Nature Infliction, grant 1 Sign, and feed Ultimate Energy. Arrows convert those shots into Power Shots. You can move while firing, which is how she dodges ground slam patterns.

Rampant Thorns (Combo)
Triggers at max Signs. Converts Signs into Hunting Arrows, resets Aerial Basic Attack count if you are already Hovering, then plants a Barrage Array. Enemies inside take Nature damage over time, are Slowed by 60%, and take extra Nature Burst damage (up to +10% at high rank). Cooldown starts at 21 seconds and drops to 19 at max rank. Use this to reload Arrows and lock a pack in place before another Hover string.

Call of Ice Mountain (Ultimate, 200 Energy)
Fires an Imbued Arrow that explodes for large AoE Nature damage (up to 300% ATK), immediately enters Hovering, resets Aerial shots, and grants 2 Hunting Arrows. The next 5 Aerial hits each drop a Hail of Arrows. The 5th Hail is empowered (up to 200% ATK). This is her wipe button and her safest way to re-enter the air with ammo already loaded.

Talents and Potential

Skirmisher: flat Agility (+10 to +20). Always take it.

Prey Checklist: the must-level talent. More starting Signs and a large multiplier on Arrow-empowered hits.

Huntress's Focus: while Hovering she gains a Protective Barrier (15% then 30% damage reduction, plus interrupt resistance). The barrier breaks on any hit and has an 30s / 18s lockout. It is a safety net, not a tank kit.

Outfitting: unlocks higher gear rarity. Standard progression.

Potential highlights

  • P1: +18% ATK while Hovering, Aerial Basic Attack damage x1.2, barrier cooldown -3s.
  • P2: +20 Agility and +16 Arts Intensity.
  • P3: Combo cooldown -2s and +6% Nature Burst damage taken inside the Barrage Array.
  • P4: Ultimate cost -15%.
  • P5: +1 Arrow from Ultimate, Ultimate damage x1.2, Power Shot Burst multiplier x1.1.

P1 and P5 are the damage spikes. P4 is the comfort spike if you struggle to bank 200 Energy. She is fully playable at P0.

Weapons

Best in slot: Umbra of Frigid Eventide (6-star Arts Unit)
Signature from the Deep Cold Arsenal Issue. At full upgrade it gives Agility +156 and ATK +39%, plus Arts DMG Dealt +25.6%. After a Battle Skill she gains Arts Intensity +56 and 4 Windform stacks for 15 seconds. Each Arts Burst she applies spends a Windform stack for +6.4% Arts DMG (up to 4 stacks, 30s each). That loop matches her exactly: Battle Skill into a string of forced Nature Bursts.

Strong alternative: Suffering's End
Japanese guides flag this Arts Unit as the closest substitute. It leans Agility, Nature damage, and Burst, which is the same stat package she wants if you skip the signature.

Budget / early: any high-ATK Arts Unit that rolls Agility. Detonation Unit is the usual fallback for Agility on Arts Units, but it is a clear downgrade because her Burst application is already built into Power Shots and she does not need a generic Burst-on-hit stick as much as she needs raw Agility and Arts Intensity.

Weapon essence priority on the signature: Burst / Agility / ATK first, then Arts Intensity.

Gear and Stats

Typhoeus Day 1 Build Completed 3 V0 8qp30iy921nh1

Launch-day gear pages are still filling in, so treat this as a first-week plan rather than a frozen endgame sheet. Typhoeus scales with Agility, ATK, Arts Intensity, Nature DMG, and skill / Burst damage. Will is her sub-stat and is fine as a secondary roll.

Set direction
There is no dedicated Nature-Burst 3-piece that is obviously hers on day one. Practical options:

  • Type 50 Yinglung (ATK +15%, team Battle Skills stack damage onto her next Combo). Good if your rotation weaves a lot of teammate skills before Rampant Thorns.
  • Qingbo (Combo cooldown -15%, then Skill DMG after each Combo). Good if you want more Barrage Arrays and faster Arrow reloads.
  • Bonekrusha (ATK +15%, Combo stacks damage onto the next Battle Skill). Good if you Combo then immediately Battle Skill into a Power Shot string.
  • LYNX Slab in the second kit slot is the common flex piece for extra personal damage when the team does not need that slot for energy.

Piece priority
Armor and gloves that show Agility as a main or high secondary roll. Kits that add Nature DMG, Combo / Battle Skill DMG, Arts Intensity, or Ultimate gain if your Energy feels slow. Redeemer-style pieces with Agility and Basic Attack DMG are reasonable off-pieces because so much of her damage lives in Aerial Basic Attacks.

Stat priority

  1. Agility
  2. ATK%
  3. Arts Intensity
  4. Nature DMG / Arts DMG
  5. Battle Skill, Combo, or Ultimate DMG depending on which button is carrying the fight
  6. Will

Skill upgrade order
Battle Skill = Ultimate first, then Combo, then Basic Attack. Prey Checklist talent should be leveled as soon as materials allow.

Best Teams

She needs at least one Nature Infliction applicator. Do not spend those stacks on a different reaction if you can help it. Typhoeus wants to eat them.

Premium Nature core
Typhoeus + Arcane + Liino + flex (Perlica, Ardelia, or Gilberta)

  • Arcane is the premier partner: Infliction, grouping, Nature / Cryo Susceptibility. Intellect array if you want her personal damage and Corrosion. Will array if you want the pull for packing enemies under Barrage Array and Hail of Arrows.
  • Liino covers healing, ATK buff, Nature Amp on Ultimate, and SP refund if you fire Battle Skills after her Combo.
  • Perlica adds more damage amp. Ardelia is the easy healer plus Arts Susceptibility. Gilberta groups and also applies Arts Susceptibility.

Accessible Infliction core
Typhoeus + Fluorite + Gilberta or Ardelia + a buffer (Liino or Xaihi if you have them)

Fluorite is the 4-star Infliction battery. This team is slower than Arcane but it teaches the same loop: stack Nature, Hover, consume, Combo, Hover again.

What to avoid
A second unit that also wants to consume Nature Infliction for its own resource. Typhoeus's Signs and Power Shot bonus both depend on her being the one who spends the stacks.

How to Play

  1. Open with your support buff (Liino Battle Skill is the usual start).
  2. Apply Nature Infliction with Arcane or Fluorite.
  3. Cast Typhoeus Battle Skill, stay in Hover, and dump the 5 Aerial shots into Inflicted targets. Watch Signs climb.
  4. At 8 Signs, fire Rampant Thorns. If you Combo while already Hovering, the Aerial count resets, which is free extra shots.
  5. Bank Ultimate. Cast Call of Ice Mountain into a packed or debuffed pack. You get 2 Arrows and another 5-shot Hover with Hail of Arrows on every hit.
  6. Repeat: re-apply Infliction, Battle Skill, Combo, Ultimate.

Small optimizations matter. Drop teammate Susceptibility and Amp before Combo and Ultimate. Use Hover movement to stay off slam circles. Do not waste Infliction on a random reaction right before her Battle Skill. If the boss is about to jump, Battle Skill first so the Protective Barrier is up.

She is comfortable in both multi-target and boss content. Multi-target is where the two-target Aerial shots and Barrage Array look best. Bosses still work because Power Shots and the empowered 5th Hail are single-target dense.

Should You Pull?

Pull Typhoeus if you want a Nature carry who can dodge ground patterns and delete packs from the air. She is also the Typhon fanservice unit, which is a valid reason on its own.

She is hungrier for a dedicated Infliction partner than a fully self-contained hypercarry. If your account already has Arcane and Liino, she slots in immediately. If you do not, Fluorite keeps her functional while you build the rest of the Nature bench.

Signature weapon is a real upgrade because Windform stacks on every Burst she already forces. It is not required to clear content. Save pulls if you are still missing a core support from an earlier banner and you only have one limited budget.

Purrchena, the Version 1.5 welfare 5-star Physical Defender, arrives later in the patch and does not compete with Typhoeus's role.

First-Week Checklist

  • Level Battle Skill and Ultimate first.
  • Unlock Prey Checklist as high as you can.
  • Put her on Umbra of Frigid Eventide if you have it, otherwise the highest Agility Arts Unit you own.
  • Pair her with anyone who can apply Nature Infliction on demand.
  • Practice the Hover string until the 5th shot (free Power Shot) is automatic.

Typhoeus rewards clean timing more than raw button mashing. Keep Nature on the target, stay in the air, and spend Signs the moment the Combo lights up. Once that loop is muscle memory, the arrow rain does the rest.
