Phainon is a Physical character you can play in Honkai: Star Rail. Since he goes solo in his own territory without his team, you’ll want a build that keeps him alive and lets him dominate. Here’s the best way to gear up Phainon with the right Relics and Light Cones.

- A Trail of Bygone Blood

- Rutilant Arena
- Bone Collection's Serene Demesne

- Feet: SPD or ATK
- Planar Sphere: Physical DMG
- Link Rope: ATK
- Sub-stats: Focus on Crit DMG, Crit Rate, and ATK.
Best Phainon Relics In HSR - Honkai: Star Rail
Phainon gets his Ultimate back faster when enemies or allies target him with abilities. That’s why the Wavestrider Captain set is a great pick—it kicks in when allies use abilities on him, boosting his Crit DMG by 16% and ATK by 48%. Another solid choice is the Scholar Lost in Erudition set, which pumps up his Skill DMG. It’s not quite as good as Wavestrider Captain but still works well for Phainon.
As a main DPS, Phainon has a few Planar Ornament options. The Arcadia of Woven Dreams set is the best since it gives him a big damage boost when he’s alone, which happens when he pops his Ultimate. You can also go with Rutilant Arena to increase his Skill DMG and Crit Rate, or Bone Collection's Serene Demesne, which ramps up his Crit DMG if his HP is above 5000—a mark he hits naturally in his Ultimate form.
Like any DPS in Honkai: Star Rail, focus on boosting Phainon’s Crit Rate to make sure his attacks hit hard. Once you’ve got a decent Crit Rate, stack as much Crit DMG, Physical DMG, and ATK% as you can to crank up his damage. SPD is key too, since he needs to attack often to recharge his Ultimate. If you can hit over 136 SPD through sub-stats, swapping to ATK boots is a smart move.
Best Phainon Light Cones In HSR - Honkai: Star Rail
The top Light Cone for Phainon is Thus Burns the Dawn. It’s his signature weapon, so no shock there. It boosts his Base SPD, lets him ignore some of the enemy’s DEF when attacking, and has a passive that gives him a massive damage spike when he uses his Ultimate, though it’s got a tricky requirement to trigger.
If you’re looking for free-to-play options, On the Fall of an Aeon or Under the Blue Sky are solid picks. They’re easier to grab and give enough buffs to keep Phainon’s damage decent in fights. If you’ve got more to invest, A Trail of Bygone Blood from the battle pass is great for boosting Crit Rate and Skill DMG.
Phainon can also use some 5-star Light Cones like Brighter Than the Sun, The Unreachable Side, I Shall Be My Own Sword, or Something Irreplaceable as stat sticks to beef up his numbers.
