Duet Night Abyss is a new fantasy RPG from PAN Studio and Hero Games, mixing magic and tech with fast-paced 3D combat and a story told through two main characters. It’s been through one closed beta test earlier in 2025, with another one recruiting players in May 2025.
In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase everything available so far about this new gacha RPG.

1. Duet Night Abyss Gameplay Overview
Combat
It’s a third-person shooter mixed with RPG action, letting you swap between guns for ranged attacks and melee weapons on the fly. Players say the fighting is fun, with cool moves like double jumps, slides, and fancy leaps. Guns hit hard, and you get ammo from enemies, plus neat tricks like reloading on critical hits. That said, some folks think it’s not as deep as Warframe’s combat. Boss fights are clear and easy to follow but might not stay tough enough for long, and people are hoping for harder co-op challenges down the line.
Looter Shooter
The game has a Warframe-like grind where you craft high-end weapons and gather materials from stages like Nocturnal Echoes. Some testers found the stages repetitive, and a stamina system for certain loot got a few grumbles.
Exploration
Exploring is a one-and-done deal, with chests tied to finding hidden stuff or killing enemies. It’s not super engaging since there’s not much variety in puzzles or rewards.
Multiplayer and Buddies
Unlike typical gacha games, you summon AI companions called specters during fights instead of switching characters. These allies are smarter than Warframe’s, using big moves and keeping up with your damage. Multiplayer feels less chaotic, avoiding cases where one player hogs all the kills.
2. What about Story?

Story
The beta story follows a girl on an island whose best friend gets kidnapped by a military group, pushing her to take on a huge empire. It’s got a strong emotional hook with a clear bad guy, reminding some of Tales of Berseria. A few testers were confused by the protagonist’s role at the start, but the dual-character story in a magic-tech world called Atlasia feels ambitious and deep.
Setting and Characters
Atlasia’s world is packed with cool stuff like Heaventrees and Phoxene crystals, plus a clash between the Elysian Church and Hyperborean Empire. The character designs, like demons with tentacles or insect-themed fighters, look awesome, though some noticed way more female characters than male ones (like 5 to 1), which sparked talk about appealing to certain fans.
3. Tech and Impressions

-
Art and Sound: The anime-style visuals are a hit, with a bright, colorful world that’s shifted from a darker look in earlier tests. The music’s a standout—fans on X called it perfect.
-
Comparisons: It’s often stacked up against Genshin Impact and Warframe for its anime shooter style and parkour moves but doesn’t quite match Warframe’s combat depth. It’s easy to pick up, but some wonder if it can stand out in a crowded field.
-
Beta Feedback: The first beta (Jan–Feb 2025) got props for its story and combat but caught flak for repetitive grinding and simple bosses. The second beta, with sign-ups open until June 2, 2025, is set to tweak those issues. Players can wishlist the game on the Epic Games Store and join via questionnaires.
When and where does Duet Night Abyss come out?
