This special form reimagines the original Blade as a hybrid DPS and team support unit who scales heavily off Max HP while deploying powerful debuffs and zone based buffs. Beta leaks paint him as a flexible hypercarry or sub DPS who shines in teams with other Nihility characters or follow up attack enablers like Ashveil. His kit revolves around self HP consumption, enemy DEF shred, and a powerful Infinite Fury state unlocked by his Ultimate. Below is a full breakdown based on the latest beta information. Note that final values may see minor adjustments upon official release.
Basic Attack
A Broken Blade Still Slays (Normal Form)
Deals Fire DMG equal to 50 percent of Mortenax Blade's Max HP to one designated enemy and causes the target to enter the Taunt state for 1 turn.
A Tempered Blade Severs Souls (Enhanced Form)
Deals Fire DMG equal to 100 percent of Mortenax Blade's Max HP to one designated enemy and causes the target to enter the Taunt state for 1 turn.
Both forms emphasize HP scaling and Taunt application, making him naturally tanky in the front line while chipping away at enemies.
Skill
A Rain of Blades Seals Fate
Consumes HP equal to 15 percent of Mortenax Blade's Max HP and deals Fire DMG equal to 72 percent of his Max HP to all enemies. It then performs 4 additional instances of DMG, each dealing Fire DMG equal to 24 percent of his Max HP to one random enemy.
If current HP is insufficient, his HP drops to 1. Importantly, this Skill does not consume Skill Points.
The Skill is locked outside the Infinite Fury state but becomes freely usable (and even auto triggered via Talent) once the Zone is active.
Ultimate
Fornax Ex Corpore (Normal Form)
Inflicts the "Balefire Bind" state on all enemies. Targets in this state suffer 30 percent DEF reduction and take 50 percent more DMG for 2 turns.
Mortenax Blade then consumes 30 percent of his Max HP to deploy a Zone and enter the "Infinite Fury" state.
While in Infinite Fury:
- CRIT Rate increases by 20 percent
- CRIT DMG increases by 60 percent
- The Skill is unlocked
- He gains access to the enhanced Ultimate "Tenax Per Ignem"
A countdown with fixed SPD of 70 appears on the Action Order. When it reaches zero, the Zone and Infinite Fury state end.
If he would be knocked down, he instead dispels the Zone, exits Infinite Fury, and recovers HP equal to 50 percent of his Max HP.
HP insufficient? It drops to 1.
Tenax Per Ignem (Enhanced Ultimate)
Deals Fire DMG equal to 300 percent of Mortenax Blade's Max HP to all enemies.
Talent
All Karma Comes Due
While the Zone is active, every time an ally attacks an enemy they inflict "Balefire Bind" on that target and grant Mortenax Blade 1 Charge. At 9 Charges he consumes them all, regenerates 25 Energy, and automatically uses his Skill once as a Follow Up ATK (this extra Skill does not consume HP).
This creates strong synergy with high frequency attackers and turns the entire team into a Charge generator for extra AoE bursts.
Technique
Blade's Reach Spares None
Immediately attacks all enemies within range. Upon entering combat, Taunts the primary target for 1 turn and reduces DMG taken by Mortenax Blade by 90 percent for 2 turns. Perfect for safe entry into tough fights.
Bonus Abilities (Traces)
- Bone, Hardened ad Nauseam: Mortenax Blade can overflow up to 80 Energy. After using his Ultimate the overflow clears and converts into Energy. At battle start or when the Zone ends, if Energy is below 50 percent it refills to 50 percent.
- Soul, Tempered ad Mortem: While the Zone is active, increases the chance of being attacked. After being hit, he inflicts "Balefire Bind" on the attacker and gains 1 Charge.
- Heart, Refined ad Infinitum: While the Zone is active, all ally DMG increases by 50 percent. If another Nihility character is on the team, ally Ultimate DMG increases by 50 percent. Otherwise, ally Follow Up ATK DMG increases by 50 percent.
These traces give him excellent energy management, self sustain through Taunt and HP drain recovery, and massive team wide buffs that adapt to team composition.
Playstyle Summary
Mortenax Blade plays as a Zone based enabler who sets up strong debuffs and buffs before shifting into a high damage Infinite Fury state. You want to use his Ultimate early to activate the Zone, then let allies generate Charges while he spams Skill and enhanced Ultimate for massive AoE Fire DMG. He excels in hypercarry setups with a second Nihility (boosting Ult damage) or FUA heavy teams (boosting Follow Up damage). His HP scaling makes him forgiving on builds, but proper speed and HP tuning is key to keep the Zone uptime high.
New Relics in Version 4.3
Version 4.3 introduces two fresh relic sets that perfectly complement Mortenax Blade and other upcoming units.
Divine-Querying Master Smith (Ideal for Mortenax Blade)
- 2 piece: Increases Max HP by 12 percent.
- 4 piece: Increases the wearer's CRIT DMG dealt to enemies in the DEF reduction state by 28 percent. After the wearer inflicts DEF reduction on an enemy, all allies gain the "Comburent" effect for 2 turns (DMG dealt increased by 15 percent). This cannot stack but refreshes when the wearer attacks again.
This set turns his natural 30 percent DEF shred into a team wide 15 percent DMG buff while boosting his own CRIT DMG on already weakened targets. Pair it with a 2 piece HP planar like Bone Collection's Serene Demesne for even more Max HP and CRIT DMG once you hit the 5000 HP breakpoint.
As Navigator Sees It (Great for Ultimate focused supports or DPS)
- 2 piece: Increases ATK by 12 percent.
- 4 piece: When the wearer inflicts DEF reduction, the next attack on that enemy increases Ultimate DMG by 18 percent for 2 turns (stacks up to 3 times).
This set rewards DEF shred playstyles and benefits characters who frequently use Ultimates after applying debuffs.
Recommended Build for Mortenax Blade
Focus on HP, CRIT, and Speed.
- Body: CRIT DMG
- Feet: SPD (aim for 134+ to act often in Zone)
- Sphere: Fire DMG Boost
- Rope: HP%
- Substats: HP percent > CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG > SPD
Light Cone options include his signature (which adds extra CRIT DMG taken debuffs) or strong Nihility alternatives that boost HP or team damage.
Mortenax Blade looks like one of the strongest new additions in 4.3, offering both personal firepower and generous team support in a single package. His dual role as HP draining AoE monster and zone buffer should open up exciting team building possibilities, especially alongside existing Fire and Nihility favorites. Keep an eye on the official release in early June 2026 for any last minute changes, and start pre farming those HP and Fire DMG pieces now.
