Nintendo is working hard to bring Dr. Mario the puzzle game to phones. Yes, you heard it right: the doctor is heading to your phones this summer. In fact, it should be releasing in “early summer”, for both iOS and Android according to the announcement from Nintendo on Thursday. Initially, 60 countries will be available to play it after the worldwide release.
About Dr. Mario World
Essentially, Dr. Mario World is a free-to-play game with optional in-app purchases. For your information, the main developers are Nintendo, NHN Entertainment and LINE. And not just developing, the three companies planned to jointly operate the game as well. In the past, Nintendo has partnered with many other companies to produce games. For example, they partnered with DeNA before to make Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, they worked with CyGames and create Dragalia Lost.
The Mario series
Dr. Mario has been a hot pick in the gaming market for quite a while. In fact, the very first Dr. Mario came out on NES way back in 1990. It has been ported to so many platforms and having a handful of sequels released throughout the years. Some of them are Dr. Mario 64, Dr. Luigi, Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure, which are for Nintendo 64, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, respectively.
The Mario Kart Tour delay
On a side note, Nintendo announced earlier today that they are delaying Mario Kart Tour to summer.
Mario Kart was announced to hit Google Play and the App Store under the name Mario Kart Tour quite a while ago. Initially, it was set to come out within March. The reason behind this delay is to improve the game quality. Super Mario Run was not really a success for Nintendo in comparison to Fire Emblem Heroes.
Also, don’t get your hopes up high to get a premium one time unlock or paid release when Mario Kart is finally out. It is likely that we will have a dedicated Nintendo Direct for it the closer we get to its release.
