We first reported about Xenowerk Tactics from developer Pixelbite back in early August when it was announced that the game would be coming to both Android and iOS within this year. Now, we finally have a specific release date and the coolest part is, we won’t have to wait for too long to be able to get our hands on it. Xenowerk Tactics is set to launch on October 10th, which is just a couple of days away. Check out its trailer below:

Though Pixelbite is mostly known for its Space Marshals series, this is not its first Xenowerk-themed offering. Released all the way back in 2015, the original Xenowerk was a twin-stick shooter in which you would have to deal with a mutant infestation. So, it’s clear that this upcoming release aims to go down a different direction.

This time around, you will become the leader of an emergency response team that has been deployed to look into a disaster that happened in a secret lab, causing tons of unusual phenomena. Depending on which NPCs you talk to, you’ll end up either saving the world or simply sweeping the mess under the rug.

The actual gameplay follows a real-time strategy format, so you’ll have to improvise as you face off against legions of mutants. The game does provide you with plenty of special abilities to help you out, such as traps, grenades, and even something called Pyrokinesis which sounds really cool. If you find that the action gets too chaotic to follow, you can also use the Tactical Pause function to have more time to direct your troops.

As you can expect, there is also an option for you to improve your rank. However, that seems to come with some risks. Sometimes your troops will acquire questionable and potentially disadvantageous mutations. We don’t know how much of an impact this will have on the gameplay just yet, but you can expect things like friendly fire to occur.

Xenowerks Tactics is set to launch on both Google Play and the App Store on the 10th of October as a premium app that costs $6.99 (Rs 500).
