Minecraft Bedrock Edition has just dropped beta and preview version 26.30.25/26. This update brings exciting new content from the upcoming Chaos Cubed drop along with plenty of fixes and improvements.

Released on April 30 2026 (with PlayStation getting 26.30.26 shortly after), the beta focuses on geysers, explosive sulfur cube mechanics, and sulfur cave enhancements. It also includes accessibility options, stronghold generation fixes, and many technical updates.

Here is everything new and changed in this beta preview.

Chaos Cubed Features and Fixes

Geysers

Geysers form when a magma block sits underneath a potent sulfur block submerged under 1 to 4 blocks of water. These vertical bursts of sulfurous water erupt every 50 seconds, launching players and mobs upward for a fun boost or dramatic landscaping effect.

Note: Geysers currently lack sounds and their particle animation may appear jerky. These issues are being fixed.

Sulfur Caves Improvements

  • Sulfur springs now generate correctly above sulfur caves again.
  • Sulfur springs are less likely to destroy trees.
  • Canyons can now properly carve through cinnabar and sulfur blocks.
  • Sulfur spikes have been re-added to the creative inventory.
  • Wandering traders can now sell sulfur spikes.

Sulfur Cube Updates

Sulfur cubes now have a new Explosive archetype. They can absorb TNT blocks placed nearby. Once absorbed:

  • The TNT can be primed by redstone, fire sources, or nearby explosions.
  • Fire or redstone priming gives a 6-second fuse.
  • Explosion priming gives a random fuse between 0.75 and 3 seconds.
  • Absorbed primed TNT prevents picking up the cube with a bucket or damaging it.
  • Primed TNT cannot be sheared out.
  • No small sulfur cubes spawn when the explosive cube detonates.

Additional sulfur cube fixes include preventing accidental small cube spawns from buckets and fixing water bucket interactions.

New Features and Improvements

Accessibility

A new Panorama Scroll Speed slider has been added to video settings. It lets you control how fast the main menu background rotates.

Blocks and Generation

  • Iron doors and stone buttons now generate properly in strongholds.
  • Wooden doors in strongholds no longer face the wrong direction.
  • Four sulfur spikes can now craft one sulfur block.

Gameplay Fixes

  • Entities on the edge of partial water or lava blocks no longer get incorrectly affected by the liquid.
  • Bees now correctly pollinate spore blossoms and chorus flowers.
  • Strider loot tables now respond to the Looting enchantment.

Graphical and Technical Updates

The fog JSON schema now supports keyframes for volumetric fog properties (requires 1.26.20 schema version). This includes max density, heights, scattering, absorption, and Henyey-Greenstein settings. Great news for creators using Vibrant Visuals or custom packs.

Other graphical fixes address RTX issues, animations on Android devices, dropped items in ray tracing, snow golem heads, scaffolding z-fighting, and Marketplace world loading.

User Interface and Stability

  • Crafting previews now show the correct wood variants based on what you own.
  • Many Ore UI text field improvements for keyboard and touch controls.
  • Players now get warned if their skin is not compatible with cross-platform play.
  • Fixed crashes, hard drive activity, and various stability issues.

How to Try the Beta

On Android, join via the Google Play beta program. On Windows, Xbox, iOS, and other platforms, enable Minecraft Preview in the launcher or app settings. PlayStation users will receive version 26.30.26 soon.
