Switching up your hair color in Where Winds Meet takes more than just sliding a bar in the character setup. The game has a solid customization setup, but plenty of it is locked until you grab certain items down the line. Hair dye falls into that category, and getting it going means following a couple steps, hitting the right menus, and having the correct stuff on hand.
Where to Change Your Hair Color in Where Winds Meet
To get started with dyeing your character's hair in Where Winds Meet, pull up the Appearance menu like in the pic above. Once inside:
- Jump to the Workshop tab.
- Click on Dye.
- Choose the hairstyle you're looking to tweak.
- Pick an empty Dye slot for that style.
- With the dye in hand, start messing with things like Basic color, Gradient color, and Highlights.
When it all looks good, hit Save. Your character's fresh hair color in Where Winds Meet kicks in right away.
Just hairstyles with a little multicolored icon in the bottom-right of the thumbnail are dyeable. A bunch of the basic starting hairstyles don't allow any tweaks, so no icon means it's off-limits.
Types of Hair Dye You Can Use
Where Winds Meet handles hair customization through items. That setup means you can't just recolor freely—you need the right dye first. The game has two main Hairdye items, each handling a different color range:
- Inkshade Hairdye
Handles basic, dark, subdued shades. It's for the Basic color slot and perfect for straightforward, realistic styles. Pretty straightforward to pick up, and each one runs you 5 Essence of Earth. - Timeless Hairdye
For vibrant, eye-catching, and fancy colors. Essential for Gradient and Highlights options, unlocking the whole range. Way harder to find, and it drops in packs of five from Hairdye Giftboxes that go for 1 Harmonic Core. You can also snag it via the WWM gacha banners, though the odds are slimmer than with Inkshade.
If you're after those bold, vivid colors folks love to flex, Timeless Hairdye is key, and stocking up on it is the real grind.
Key Limitations to Keep in Mind
Hair color tweaks in Where Winds Meet aren't totally unrestricted—here are the main catches players need to watch for:
- Not every hairstyle works with dye. Lots of early-game ones block color changes entirely. Check for that multicolored icon; if it's absent, no dice.
- Hair needs items to unlock. Unlike eyebrows or beards that you can adjust anytime, hair demands Hairdye items to even enable coloring.
- Flashy shades demand rare stuff. The brighter or more intricate the color, the more Timeless Hairdye it'll eat up.
