Mojang just dropped the name of their second big update for 2025, Minecraft Chase the Skies, and it’s loaded with awesome stuff. Revealed during the MC Championship TwitchRivals stream, this game drop is all about soaring through the skies and exploring new heights in the sandbox world, with some sweet extras to make your adventure even better.

Happy Ghast Flying Mount

The star of Chase the Skies is the brand-new Happy Ghast, a flying mount you can ride. To get it, head to the Nether and track down a dried ghast block, usually found near fossil structures. You can also trade with piglins or craft one using ghast tears and soul sand. Once you’ve got the block, place it in water to turn it into a ghastling. Then, feed that ghastling a bunch of snowballs to transform it into your dream airborne ride.

Player Locator Bar

Another killer feature is the player locator bar, which appears where your XP bar is. It marks your friends as colored dots on the screen, with arrows pointing up or down if they’re stuck on a cliff or lost in a cave. It’s a game-changer for keeping tabs on your crew.

New Music Disc and Tracks

You’ll also score a new music disc by taking down ghasts, plus five new ambient tracks for Overworld biomes, composed by Amos Roddy, to set the mood while you explore.

Vibrant Visuals Overhaul

Then there’s the Vibrant Visuals update, Minecraft’s biggest visual refresh yet. It upgrades lighting, shadows, and details to make the game feel totally new. Not into it? You can turn it off and still play on Realms with friends, whether they’re using it or not. Quick note: it’s only for Bedrock Edition at launch, with Java support coming later.

Other Updates

Don’t forget to craft some saddles and leads, which got a recent overhaul in the game’s snapshots. No official launch date for Chase the Skies yet, but it’s looking like a massive addition to Minecraft.
