Sony will air two State of Play broadcasts back to back on Thursday, September 3, 2026. The first stream starts at 6:00am PT / 9:00am ET / 3:00pm CEST / 10:00pm JST. It covers updates from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners, then ends with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation. State of Play Japan, hosted by Yuki Kaji, begins right after and focuses on games from Japan and Asia.

Watch both live on PlayStation's official YouTube and Twitch channels. The main show is in English with Japanese subtitles. The Japan show is in Japanese with English subtitles. Runtimes have not been announced.

The One Confirmed Game

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the only title Sony has named. Square Enix will close the first broadcast with an extended look at its world. This is the third and final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake project. Earlier footage has shown a much larger, more open world than the previous games. A spring 2027 launch window has been widely reported.

First-Party Games Most Likely to Appear

Marvel's Wolverine launches exclusively on PS5 on September 15, less than two weeks after the showcase. Insomniac already showed extended gameplay in June. A launch trailer or extra story footage would fit the timing.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is the game fans keep asking about. Naughty Dog posted that its cinematic shoot has wrapped, just hours after Sony announced the date. The studio said it cannot wait to show the cast's work "when the time is right." The game was first revealed at The Game Awards 2024. A new trailer or 2027 window would be a major moment. Reports have pointed toward a mid-2027 target.

God of War Laufey was the standout reveal of the June State of Play. Santa Monica Studio's next entry, focused on Faye, is slated for February 2027. Another look at combat or story would make sense.

Other PlayStation Studios names that could appear include updates from Housemarque (Saros) or Firesprite (Until Dawn 2).

Third-Party Titles in the Mix

Sony also promised announcements from partners. Games already dated for the coming weeks are natural candidates.

  • Phantom Blade Zero (October 29) already received its own dedicated State of Play on August 17. A short recap is possible but not expected.
  • Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall both launch in late September.
  • GTA 6 received an extended look recently. A small extra clip has been floated, though it remains a long shot.
  • Other names in circulation include Kingdom Hearts 4, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls DLC.

Treat these as speculation. Sony has not confirmed any of them.

State of Play Japan

The second broadcast is meant for deeper dives rather than a rapid trailer reel. Expect new gameplay and announcements from Japanese and other Asian studios. Nothing specific has been named. Possible candidates include further looks at Square Enix, Capcom, or Bandai Namco titles, plus new games timed around Tokyo Game Show later in the month.

The September showcase sits between a packed late-summer slate and the next wave of 2027 exclusives. Wolverine is days away. Revelation and Laufey are the longer-term tentpoles. Whether Naughty Dog finally shows more of Intergalactic will likely decide how memorable the night feels. The only guarantee right now is a longer look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Everything else is rumor until the streams start.
