Final Fantasy XI has never failed to keep its players captivated for the last two decades as one of the most legendary MMORPG. It features a vast list of mechanics, challenging combat and unlike other MMOs, Final Fantasy XI offers a combination of class RPG with community-driven experiences. Over the years, the game has evolved through and through with new progression storyline, system updates and numerous additions.
Among all these improvements and mechanics, one of the key essentials is the Grounds of Valor training system that provides a fundamental training for players to level up their game while also earning multiple rewards like EXP, tabs and FFXI Gil. This training system requires the player to go through a training regime where you will slay enemies and hast your character progression in the storyline. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about GoV or Grounds of Valor Training System to stay ahead of your competitions.
What is Grounds of Valor
If you are new to this concept, then let me enlighten you. Grounds of Valor (GoV) is a system for upskilling in Final Fantasy XI. It is a game mechanic accessed through Grounds Tomes. This system allows players to join their training regime to defeat enemies of specific types and compensate for their effort with rewards such as EXP, gil and tabs (Grounds and FoV points). These training regimes can be repeated multiple times per Vana’diel day but the valuable rewards including gil and tabs would be awarded only once. Moreover, players also gain “Prowess” effects each day in the game but they are not a guaranteed reward.
Starting a Regime
Upon examining the Grounds Tome in the zone of your liking, you will be assigned a book with a number of pages from the option named Individual Training. These pages will contain the details of each and every monster type you will come across, their respective spawning area and the recommended level range for yourself to be eligible for the credits. A page at level 1 will carry these objectives:
- Colliery Bat x 5
- Veindigger Leech x 2
- Level range between 75 and 80
- Area for training - Zeruhn Mines
And once you pick a page to your liking, you can start the expedition and hunt down those monsters. One thing to remember is that you necessarily don't have to be the one to land the final blow to the enemies and even if it's someone in the party who does the killing, you will still get the EXP and get it count as a progress.
Rewards
Now if you have completed every objective of the training regime that was listed on the page, you will get the regime completion rewards that includes EXP points, tabs and Gils. You can also buy FFXI Gil, as it is the easiest method to get them. The amount of Exp points and Gils would be the same but the tabs will be 10% of that number. Additionally, you can also earn Prowess if you are lucky. The message you will see after the completion will look like this:
- You have successfully completed the training regime
- You received 1200 experience points
- You received 1,200 Gil
- You received 120 tabs
- Prowess Attained: (Any prowess for example: Hard Cookie)
Unlike FoV or DominionOps, Ground of Valor offers increasing rewards for consecutive completions for every page. For every page you complete without zoning will boost your experience by 4%. For example: Maze of Shakhrami’s page caps at 1,340 Experience points by the time of few repeated completion but generally the limit to cap exp lies somewhere between 15 to 26 pages which is a deduced number.
Rules and regulations
There are some restrictions in Ground of Valors that needs to be followed:
- While a regime can be completed multiple times, rewards like gil / tab would be rewarded only once per Vana’diel day.
- Switching your jobs between an active training regime, will end up cancelling the regime.
- Your regime will remain unaffected even if you are KO’d, exiting your game, changing areas or adjusting level Sync.
- Even your Prowess will remain active if you log out or change the training regime.
- The maximum quantity of tabs a player can hold is 50K.
