A fan on the r/GTA6 subreddit spotted something in the latest Grand Theft Auto VI trailer that’s got people talking. They noticed a ton of traffic heading southwest in a screenshot, hinting at a major area Rockstar hasn’t shown yet. They’re onto something, but it’s not exactly a secret.
The map is gigantic
The game’s setting, Leonida, is a fictional take on Florida and is set to be the biggest map in any GTA game. The area in question is likely Key West, or as fans are calling it based on leaks, “Sundown.” One commenter, Bfire8899, pointed out that it’s probably inspired by Florida’s Middle and Upper Keys. Another user, FrozenFrost2000, added that Key West’s real-life police department was so corrupt in 1984 it was labeled a criminal organization by the U.S. government. Wild, right?
Rockstar hasn’t fully revealed this part of the map yet. There’s a chance one of the beach shots we’ve seen is from Sundown, but we haven’t gotten a proper look. An island city surrounded by water sounds like a blast for intense shootouts or just soaking in the scenery.
There are tons of buildings to Explore
GTA VI is shaping up to be a beast of a game, possibly even outdoing GTA V in scope and sales. The story follows Jason and Lucia, two characters caught in a botched job that pulls them into a massive criminal conspiracy across Leonida. They’ll have to lean on each other to survive.
GTA V already had a huge world with endless side activities like golf, shady plane deliveries, or even driving a taxi. You could pull off bank heists or rob gas stations, giving you plenty to do outside the main story. But GTA VI is taking it further. According to The Game Post, citing GameRoll, the game will have over 700 enterable buildings, including fully functional shopping malls. GameRoll mentioned on Discord that these are shops you can rob, which raises the question: are there even more non-shop buildings we can enter? We’ll have to wait and see.
