Leveling up in Elden Ring Nightreign is a bit different from other FromSoftware games to match the fast-paced expeditions. Getting to the right level for each night is key to taking on the Nightboss, so you’ve got to focus on leveling up every day.

Each day gives you a limited window before the circle closes in and the Nightboss shows up, so you need to use your time wisely and level up as quickly as possible. Here’s how to do it.

Elden Ring 1

How Does Leveling Up Work In Elden Ring Nightreign

You still level up at a Site of Grace, and all of them are marked on your map from the start. The rune cost for each level ramps up fast, but when you’ve got enough runes, a blue arrow pops up next to your level in the top left of the screen. Head to a Site of Grace, pull up the level-up menu, and pick how many levels you want to gain.

In Nightreign, levels come with preset stat boosts, so you don’t choose where to put your points—you just level up. That said, each level gives you multiple stat increases across the board, so one level in Nightreign feels like several levels in the original Elden Ring.

How To Level Up Fast In Elden Ring Nightreign

To level up quickly in Nightreign, it’s all about moving fast and picking your fights smartly. Runes are shared among your group, so stick together to take down enemies quickly. Your main goal each day is to dash between map locations, clear out the enemies there, and beat the boss. These spots give you more runes for your effort, and the enemies aren’t much tougher, especially with your team backing you up.

Elden Ring 2

You’ll run into small groups of enemies between main locations, but they usually take too long to fight for the runes they drop, so just skip them. Bosses at map locations drop a ton of runes and sometimes caches that boost your strength in other ways.

On Day 2, you’ll see tougher enemies marked as red monster icons on the map. They drop a lot of runes, but farming them early isn’t worth it. You might tackle one at the end of Day 2, but you’re better off clearing two or three map locations in the time it takes to fight one.

You can also grab Stonesword Keys from merchants to unlock Evergaols scattered across the map. These bosses often drop Rune Acquisition boosts and big chunks of 100,000 Runes on top of the usual boss rewards. Hold off on spending runes at merchants for consumables, weapons, or upgrades until the end of Day 2 so you can focus on leveling up. If you keep beating bosses, you’ll naturally pick up plenty of gear—often better than what the merchants sell.
