Regular players and content creators have a long-running question: Is unlocking the new agent early through VP even worth it? Today, we have compiled a comprehensive answer after receiving a lot of feedback from our users. If you have the same question and are already wondering about the next agent release, then make sure that you read till the end of this article.

How much do you need to spend on the New Agent?
There are three ways to unlock a new agent.
- Using in-game currency - Valorant Points (VP) for early access
- Grinding and earning your way through it - Free.
- Xbox Game Pass PC/Ultimate - Requires a subscription to the Xbox Game Pass.
Except for grinding your way through it, you will get instant access to the newly released agent if you purchase the access or if your account is linked to an active Xbox Game Pass subscription that comes with added perks for Valorant players.
For launch day access, you need to spend 1000 VP to gain full access to any newly released agent. You unfortunately do not get any additional items or accessories by spending these VP. The only thing you truly gain here is saved time and priority.
For Xbox Game Pass, you need to spend about ₹1,389/month or $29.99 for the Ultimate edition. In India, you can buy 1000 VP for ₹844 only.
Which method is the right bang for your buck?
After careful consideration of all possible ways, let's put down the conditions. We first need to figure out the economics of buying the agent.
So the first question is, why do you need the early access? If you are a content creator or someone with limited time and quickly wants a hands-on on the upcoming agent, then getting the early access makes sense. If not, then waiting it out is the best option, given that you might not be able to play with the new characters at all due to insta-locking.
And if you’re all set to get the early access, then the best option is to buy 1000 VP directly and get access to the agent. The closest alternative is the Xbox Game Pass, which is only beneficial if you are also an avid user of the pass for the games it offers. Otherwise, it’s better to spend less money on things that you actually need.
And if you buy Valorant Points (VP) from partnered websites, you can also get a chance to earn discounts and cashback on every purchase, making you save more money the next time you really want a bundle in the market.
