After all the features announced at Minecraft Live 2022 getting added to the game with previous snapshots, Mojang has moved on to other components. The latest Minecraft 1.20 snapshot 22W46A has brought manual mob sounds, a long-awaited command, and a bunch of exciting updates to the game.
Gurugamer is going to summarize everything you need to know about them.
Mob Heads can now play sounds
Mob heads are decorative items that drop when certain mobs are killed with a charged creeper explosion. They look exactly like the head of the dead mob, and players can wear them on the head slot, like a mask.
Before 1.20, mob heads are mostly a decoration, however, with the release of Snapshot 22W46A, players can do more. By placing these mob heads on top of a note block, players can play the ambient sounds that these mobs made naturally.
For example, placing a creeper mod head on a note block would make the sound of an exploding creeper.
Additionally, the snapshot also expands the selection of mob heads by adding a Piglin head. The head flaps its ears when worn by moving players
Secret Doors with Bookshelves
Before the Minecraft 1.20 snapshot 22W46A, the chiseled bookshelves followed a stack order. This means the book placed first can only be picked up last.
However, now you can just look at the specific book to pick it up. This means you can place the book at any spot on the shelf.
Additionally, each book spot on the shelf creates a different redstone signal. The top left corner is the weakest while the bottom left corner is the strongest. This means players can create a secret bookshelf door with the right redstone machine.
Change Biomes with Command
Getting access to all biomes has always been a dream of most players in Minecraft. Because of that, the seeds with all biomes are always the most in-demand.
However, that all changed with the introduction of Minecraft 1.20 snapshot 22W46A. Now, if you can’t find the biome, you can just change the biome of any select region with the help of the “/fillbiome” command.
While this command allows you to bring different biomes from one dimension to another, it does not affect biomes from different dimensions such as the Nether. So, placing water in the Nether is still impossible.
Other Minecraft 1.20 Changes
Aside from the game-changing features, the 22W46A Snapshot also added the following new features:
- New telemetry events allow Minecraft to collect how much time you spend in a particular Minecraft session alongside other data. You can’t turn them off but fortunately, the data collection is set to “minimal” by default.
- Endermen, Skeletons, and Wither Skeletons can now only spawn at a light level below 9 in the Nether dimension. The earlier light level was 11 which allowed them to spawn right next to Nether portals.
- The top textures of Block of Bamboo are now different from Block of Stripped Bamboo
