Mojang Studios has dropped the latest Bedrock Edition beta and preview build, version 26.20.23 for most platforms and 26.20.24 for Android and ChromeOS. This update kicks off the second experimental drop from the Chaos Cubed content pack, bringing a brand-new mob, cave biome, and block sets to test. Players can now explore sulfur caves filled with vibrant yellow and red blocks while interacting with the quirky sulfur cube mob.
The features are available behind the experimental toggle for Drop 2 of the 2026 content. Mojang has already refined textures based on community feedback from Minecraft LIVE, giving the sulfur cube a cuter look with added freckles and improving the coloring on the new blocks.
Drop 2 Experimental Features
These additions are still in active development and may change before full release. The sulfur cube physics are a work in progress, and directional knockback is not yet complete. Mojang welcomes your feedback and bug reports.
- Sulfur Cubes: A new passive mob that calls sulfur caves home. These curious creatures have an appetite for blocks. Feed a sulfur cube different blocks and watch it transform, gaining unique movement properties like bouncing or sliding. Experiment to discover all the fun behaviors.
- Sulfur Springs: These surface pools appear across the Overworld and are easy to spot thanks to surrounding sulfur and cinnabar blocks plus rising noxious gas. Dig down from a sulfur spring to reach the new sulfur cave biome below.
- Potent Sulfur: Place this new block under water to create bubbling hot pools complete with bubble columns and puffs of noxious gas. Be careful, the gas causes nausea to nearby players and mobs.
- Sulfur Caves: A fresh underground biome featuring shallow water pools and glow lichen. The caves are packed with yellow sulfur blocks, red cinnabar blocks, and sulfur cubes for an exciting new exploration experience.
- New Block Sets: Two complete block families join the game. The sulfur set brings bright yellow tones while the cinnabar set adds rich reds. Each set includes full variants such as stairs, slabs, bricks, chiseled blocks, and more, perfect for colorful builds.
