New Version Numbering: Welcome to the "26" Era
Mojang has shifted to calendar-year-based versioning for both Bedrock and Java Editions. Starting in 2026, all versions begin with "26," followed by a release number and patch/hotfix identifier . This simplifies tracking updates across editions, despite differing release cadences — Bedrock's frequent patches count upward directly, while Java uses a separate patch number.
For example:
- Bedrock: 26.0 (this update), then 26.1, etc.
- Java: 26.0.1, 26.0.2, etc.
More details are available in Mojang's announcement.

Craftable Name Tags
Name Tags can now be crafted using 1 paper and any metal nugget (iron, gold, or copper). No more dungeon hunting required!

Baby Mob Redesigns
Nine baby mobs received updated models, textures, and bounding boxes for better parity with Java Edition:
- Cow, Mooshroom, Pig, Wolf, Rabbit, Cat, Ocelot, Chicken, Sheep
Rabbits got new animations too. Spawn Eggs now reliably produce baby versions of their mobs. Baby Pigs, Cats, and Wolves have unique sounds (adult Wolf sounds pending fix).
Wolf tamed texture is a placeholder for now.
These cuter designs have fans buzzing:
Creator and Technical Additions
- Command Macros: New toggle in Creator Settings adds 10 customizable Alt+key bindings for in-game commands (e.g., Alt+1 runs your typed command). Prevents conflicts with existing Alt bindings.
- API Updates (via Beta APIs): @minecraft/server 2.6.0-beta, new events like entity hurt/heal, camera splines, BiomeType methods, and more for add-on creators.
Major Gameplay Changes
- Nautilus Improvements: Smoother swimming animations (head retracts for propulsion), better pathfinding (avoids obstacles, no vertical spinning/slowness), new swim/land sounds for all variants (Nautilus, Baby, Zombie). Drowned riders now chase targets effectively. Water Breathing prevents suffocation.
- Vindicator "Johnny": Attacks all non-illager mobs correctly.
- Nether Portals: Ignite with lava again.
- End Gateways: No more void teleports.
