Minecraft just dropped a teaser that got everyone buzzing. They shared a screenshot with the letters "CU" and a pop-up showing Steve teleported to some coordinates tied to copper’s atomic number, mass, and periodic table group. Fans cracked the code fast, guessing a copper-themed update was coming, and they nailed it.

Minecraft has now spilled the beans on what’s in the next game drop. The update gives copper a big glow-up, introducing a new Copper tier for weapons, tools, and armor. This gear slots between Stone and Iron, making it a solid option for newer players since copper’s pretty common. But there’s a catch to keep it balanced. For instance, Copper Pickaxes last longer and work faster than Stone ones, but they can’t mine high-tier stuff like Redstone or Diamond. This makes it easier to grab Iron and start leveling up your gear.
Copper Mechanics in the Update
Copper’s getting some new tricks in this update. Besides crafting tools and armor, copper can now be used to make Copper Blocks that oxidize over time, changing color from shiny orange to a cool green patina unless you wax them to lock in the look. You’ll need to smelt Copper Ore into ingots, and the update adds a new Copper Furnace that smelts items faster than a regular furnace when fueled with coal or charcoal.

Copper’s conductivity also comes into play—Copper Rods can now channel lightning strikes to power Redstone contraptions, adding a new way to automate setups. These mechanics make copper more than just a crafting material, giving it a unique role in building and Redstone projects.
Minecraft Resurrects Overlooked Mob
The real star of the show, though, is the new Copper Golem. These little guys are small but mighty. When you craft a Copper Golem for the first time, you also get a Copper Chest. Toss items in the chest, and the Golem will grab them and sort them into other chests nearby that make sense. For example, if it finds an item in the Copper Chest and there’s a stack of the same item in another chest, it’ll move it there. This is a game-changer for players who can’t keep their stuff organized.
Right now, this stuff is only in the Beta and Preview versions of Bedrock Minecraft. A Java Snapshot is on the way, though, so it won’t be long. The team wants players to share feedback and report any bugs.
