Minecraft just dropped a cool new buddy, the Copper Golem. These little guys are super handy and easy to build, making them great helpers for players who are busy digging, crafting, or exploring.

Copper Golems Hard At Work

The Copper Golems were part of the Minecraft Live 2021 Mob Vote, but they got outshined by the Allay. Good news, though—Mojang didn’t let them rust away. They’ve been spruced up and added to the game for everyone to enjoy.

Right now, you can only find the Copper Golem in Minecraft Preview. To try it out, create a new world, turn on Experiments, and pick Drop 3 2025 to unlock the Copper update.

Crafting A Copper Golem

Building a Copper Golem is simple. Just plop a Block of Copper on the ground and stick a Carved Pumpkin on top. You can get a Carved Pumpkin by using Shears on a regular Pumpkin. For the Copper Block, fill up a Crafting Table with 9 Copper Ingots. If you’re short on Copper, grab a Stone Pickaxe (or better) and mine some Copper Ore, then smelt it into Ingots.

Once you’ve got 1 Copper Block and 1 Carved Pumpkin, place them anywhere to spawn the Copper Golem. It’ll pop up on top of a shiny new Copper Chest. The Copper Block can be in any state—regular, Exposed, Weathered, or Oxidized—so you can mix and match to get different-colored Golems.

If your Copper Golem’s looking a bit worn, just use an Axe on it to shine it back up.

What Does the Copper Golem Do in Minecraft?

Copper Golems are friendly little helpers that won’t ever turn on you. They’re all about keeping things organized. These guys wander around, messing with Chests and Copper Chests to sort your stuff. Basically, they’re like an automatic cleaning crew for your storage.

The Copper Golems Open Chests

Drop items in a Copper Chest, and the Golem will grab them and figure out where they belong in your regular Chests. It’s awesome for keeping your mining loot, building blocks, or tools nice and tidy without you lifting a finger.
