S-Game has gone gold on Phantom Blade Zero, its highly anticipated wuxia action RPG, and pre-orders are now live alongside a brand-new 11-minute trailer. The announcement marks the end of development for the title, which launches worldwide on October 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Pre-orders opened on August 11 at 7 PM PT (August 12 at 10 AM Beijing Time) across the PlayStation Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Players can choose the Standard Edition for $59.99 or the Deluxe Edition for $69.99. The Standard Edition includes the base game plus early unlocks such as the Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy outfit. The Deluxe Edition adds exclusive outfits (Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form), a digital art book, and the digital soundtrack.

The 11-Minute Trailer

The 11-minute trailer delivers new story content, characters, combat footage, and a surprise reveal at the end. It follows protagonist Soul deeper into his journey, introducing fresh faces and encounters. Official materials highlight Donnie Yen’s involvement: he has served as creative consultant since 2023, contributing martial arts and action filmmaking expertise to the combat design, and also performed facial and motion capture for the character Mó Yuan, with support from his stunt team.

Phantom Blade Zero puts players in the role of Soul, an elite assassin of The Order who is framed for the murder of its patriarch. Gravely wounded and left with a ruined heart, he receives a temporary cure that grants him exactly 66 days to live. Hunted by former comrades, Soul must uncover the conspiracy against him while navigating a world that blends classic wuxia storytelling, dark fantasy, and folk horror elements. The setting mixes traditional martial arts with machinery in a style the developers call “kungfupunk.” Choices that involve helping others and acting with honor can create larger narrative impacts, though the game does not feature a rigid honor meter.

A dedicated PlayStation State of Play focused on Phantom Blade Zero is scheduled for August 17 at 7 PM PT. It will offer a deeper look at the world, combat, exploration, and progression systems, with mostly new footage.

Gameplay

Combat sits at the center of Phantom Blade Zero. It delivers fast-paced, fluid melee action inspired by Hong Kong martial arts cinema, with motion capture that captures authentic kung fu techniques at full speed, including wire work. The system sits between aggressive character-action games and precise timing-based titles. Players have a health bar and a Sha-Chi meter. Sha-Chi fuels heavier attacks and is drained by blocking, while basic attacks and dodges do not consume it. Depleting an enemy’s Sha-Chi breaches their stance and opens them to powerful finishers.

Soul can equip two primary weapons at once and switch between them freely mid-combat (which also fully restores Sha-Chi). Primary weapons are primarily blades, with more than 30 options that feature distinct movesets, ranges, speeds, and unique mechanics. Examples include rapid dual blades, heavy greatswords or polearms that charge through successful parries, whip-like soft snake swords, and circular twin-ring weapons. Each weapon supports combo strings built from light and heavy attacks, plus a signature Power Surge ultimate.

Two secondary Phantom Edges can also be equipped. These limited-use tools range from bows and axes to hammers, lances, and more exotic options. They provide ranged pressure, area control, or heavy impact and can be switched on the fly.

Defensive play is critical. Precise parries against standard or Brutal attacks generate stylish Ghoststeps that reposition Soul behind the foe for immediate counters. Killer attacks cannot be blocked or parried and must be dodged with similar timing for the same reward. Enemy groups often coordinate attacks, and bosses demand pattern recognition, positioning, and adaptation. Multiple difficulty settings are available, including demanding options that emphasize precise timing without requiring pure soulslike resource management on every action.

Exploration ties into the 66-day limit, with death carrying a time cost, while bells serve as checkpoints for rest, map reveals, and fast travel. Defeating powerful foes yields new weapons and techniques, expanding the arsenal as the story progresses.

With development complete, pre-orders open, and substantial new footage available, Phantom Blade Zero is positioned as one of the major action RPG releases of late 2026. Fans of high-speed martial arts combat and cinematic presentation now have a clear path to secure the game ahead of its October 29 launch.
