Take-Two Interactive was the mother company of both Rockstar Studio and 2K, one of the biggest names in the world of video games. In the new report for the second quarter of this fiscal year, Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of the company, revealed that they are working on a sequel of one of their biggest franchises and a new IP. There are about three potential possible sequels, Grand Theft Auto 6, Mafia 4, or BioShock 3. After the success of Red Dead Redemption 2 last year and its PC version this year, it's about time that a new game should be announced.
In the best case, we might even get two games, with Rockstar working on GTA 6 and 2K working on BioShock 3. The previous game in the series, BioShock Infinite, was one of the biggest hits in 2013, with 11 million copies sold two years after launch, along with numerous awards and honors. However, as the developers of BioShock 3 won’t be Irrational games, it is possible that the game will be nothing like the previous releases.
Below is the information we have gathered from leaks about the title, based on information provided by Zhykionn, an anonymous source in the 2K development team.
Who is the main character of the game?
It is revealed that the protagonist of BioShock 3 is going to be an American orphan named Lucas, who lived on the street of London. After a series of events unravel, Lucas is accused of being a part of Rapture’s destruction.
It is still unclear who his enemies would be, and what is the main objective of the game, but familiar characters like Eleanor Lamb, Brigid Tenenbaum, and even the Lutece Twins would come back in BioShock 3 as important pieces of the puzzle.
What would the gameplay be like?
The leak suggests that the game would be both open-world and linear – players would have the freedom to explore while the story’s narrative is not affected. It is pretty much middle ground between BioShock Infinity and the original Rapture Duology.
The game is expected to be announced sometime between December 2019 and March 2020, if those leaks are to be believed. It’s still unknown about the platforms that the game would be available on, however. Interested in more information related to Take-Two's other upcoming projects such as GTA 6?
