The name of Shinji Mikami is probably most famous for his work on Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil and Vanquish, but The Evil Within franchise has a huge number of its fans too.
After the launch of the second game in 2017, The Evil Within fans are so exciting to know more about upcoming projects of Mikami-san, and it seems their wish will come true very soon. Mikami just has posted on Twitter informing about his work trip to the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, as known as E3.
It's not a normal occasion that Mikami attends an E3 himself unless he has a new game to announce which has lots of potentials. However, the fans had seen a three-year gap between the release date of the first and the following title of the franchise, that probably means Tango Gameworks need to notably speed up their work on the development of the game if they plan to release it this year.
However, we can expect another project like a completely new IP. Actually, all we can do right now is guessing. If the developers are going to make some announcement about the title, it's likely to happen during Bethesda’s E3 2019 Showcase.
By the way, below is a comment about The Evil Within 2:
As a horror game, I’m not sure The Evil Within 2 could stand up on its own. With the occasional jump scare and some good direction you might get the right tone once in a while, but for the most part the game fails to deliver on the overall sense of horror. Behind that, though, is a great game with interesting enemies, a story that makes no sense but doesn’t need to and some really good piece of imaginative art design. It’s probably better that it’s less scary, the game will hopefully find a home for people looking for something on the borders of scary rather than just those few hardcore horror fans.
