Please do not call yourself a true Play Station fan if you do not know about The Last of Us. This title was a boom when it was launched for the PS3 platform, gaining for itself a huge fan base. This fan base has brought us countless mods for the game, and they also demand for the second part of this game continuously over the years. Naughty Dog – developer of The Last of Us – knows this, but it keeps delaying The Last of Us Part II, until this year. As the fan base of this game series has been patiently waiting, the director of Naughty Dog Neil Druckmann promises that The Last of Us Part II will surely “make fans proud.” And now, we have the first proof that Neil Druckmann is the man of his words.
The Last of Us did include some mature features, but we will be getting a lot more mature content in The Last of Us Part II. In the official website for The Last of Us Part II, the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) of the US has labeled this title as an M/17+ Rating game. This is not something new, because The Last of Us has the same rating from ESRB. However, the content descriptors of the two games are not the same. In The Last of Us, we have ‘Sexual Themes,’ but in The Last of Us Part II, we have “Sexual Content” and “Nudity”.
So what does this difference mean? For the “Sexual Theme” content descriptor, it means that the game does have some references to sex or sexuality. However, for “Sexual Content” and “Nudity” content descriptor, the mature content will surely take a large proportion of the game, and we will possibly see some nude scenes in the game.
At this point, we can’t tell for sure which kinds of “Sexual Content” and “Nudity” will be added to the game. But we can say for sure that with this content descriptor and rating, Naughty Dog will have more space and tools to bring us a true post-apocalyptic world with a lot of zombies in it. With the success of the first part, The Last of Us Part II is expected to be one of the best games of this year.
