Mojang's working on Minecraft's fourth update for 2025, called Mounts of Mayhem. They announced it back in September at their twice-yearly live event, and showed off some key features like the nautilus mob, spear weapon, zombie horses in survival mode, zombie nautilus, and other things.
It makes sense that since the nautilus is joining ocean biomes, Mojang should throw in a completely new ocean biome too.

Reasons why Minecraft needs a ocean biome after nautilus
A new ocean biome will make Nautilus feel more special

But a bunch might not feel motivated, especially since the update's mainly just adding one new mob under the water.
If people are content with their current worlds and setups, they might not care much about grabbing a nautilus. But if Mojang adds a fresh ocean biome packed with distinct plants, flowers, and blocks, it could pull in more folks to check out the waters in their worlds. That way, they're not just spotting the nautilus—they're diving into a different sort of ocean altogether.
Mojang has not introduced a new ocean biome for a long time

One more reason a new ocean biome would help the game is that oceans haven't had any serious changes in a while. Ever since the Caves and Cliffs update, they've gotten zero new stuff. Mojang's spent the last few years mostly tweaking the Overworld, while oceans have been overlooked.
So, it's past due for a fresh, one-of-a-kind ocean biome to hit Minecraft, complete with another mob on top of the nautilus, new blocks, structures, plants, flowers, and the rest.
