Genshin Impact Yun Jin Build Guide: Talents, Gears, And Team Comps

Yun Jin is a Geo Polearm character in Genshin Impact. She is an S-tier support character dedicated to Normal Attack characters, especially the newly released Ayato. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase a complete Yun Jin build guide in Genshin Impact.

1. Yun Jin Genshin Impact Overview

Yun Jin is designed as a support Geo character who uses her Elemental Burst to buff the entire party's Normal Attacks based on her current DEF stat. She can fit in different kinds of teams that require shielding or to activate Geo resonance.

Strengths

• Elemental Burst has a Low Cost.
• Boosts Normal ATK DMG.
• Elemental Skill DMG increases per Charge Level or Parry.
• Elemental Skill generates many Elemental Particles.

Weaknesses

• Elemental Skill needs precise timing to skip Charge Level 1.
• Requires a multi-element team for further attack buff.

2. Yun Jin Abilities and Talent Priority

• Yun Jin Talent Priority: Cliffbreaker's Banner > Opening Flourish > Normal Attack

Elemental Skill: Opening Flourish

Yun Jin's skill has two modes: press and hold. The press mode releases an attack right away while the second mode charges an attack and creates a shield based on her max HP. After fully charged or the shield break, she will unleash the attack, dealing damage based on her current DEF stat.

This ability is fairly tricky to master. Players can "Parry" with it to instantly deal the maximum damage without having to charge for the full duration. Just time it so that the attack releases right before an enemy's attack hits.

Elemental Burst: Cliffbreaker's Banner

Deal AoE Geo DMG when cast and grant all party members the Flying Cloud Flag Formation buff.

This buff gives bonus DMG to normal attacks based on Yun Jin's current DEF. It can be triggered 30 times max, and hitting multiple enemies consumes multiple triggers. Overall, Yun Jin would need around 200% - 240% in order to comfortably use her Elemental Burst off cooldown.

3. Genshin Impact Yun Jin Build

Yun Jin build for Main DPS

Overall, it is possible to build Yun Jin as a main DPS, however, her damage is not nearly as good as the popular DPS characters.

• Recommended weapon: Vortex Vanquisher
• Recommended artifact set: Retracing Bolide x4

Both the weapon and artifact set increase Yun Jin's shield strength and DPS. Alternatively, players can use Primordial Jade Winged-Spear, Staff of Homa or Prototype Starglitter on her for higher DPS.

Yun Jin build for Support

Support builds are the best on Yun Jin. Her artifacts should focus on DEF and Energy Regeneration.

• Recommended weapon: Engulfing Lightning
• Recommended artifact sets: Husk Of Opulent Dreams x2 + Emblem of Severed Fate x2

If players don't have the Engulfing Lightning, it is possible to use either The Catch or Favonius Lance.

Recommended Constellation

Yun Jin has 2 power spikes at C2 and C6, and both of them increase her support potential for normal attack builds.

• Constellation 2: Increases Normal Attack DMG of all party members by 15% after Burst.
• Constellation 6: Increases ATK SPD for all party members by 12% after Burst.

4. Best teams for Yun Jin

Currently, there are 2 DPS characters with a focus on normal attacks: Yoimiya and Ayato. Yun Jin's kit bolsters their power greatly.

Yoimiya core team

• Yoimiya + Yun Jin + Xingqiu + Bennett

Overall, this team focuses on Yoimiya's attacks, with support from Yun Jin and Vaporization triggers from Xingqiu. The last member of the team, Bennett, provides Pyro resonance, healing and damage.

Ayato core team

• Ayato + Yun Jin + Xiangling + Zhongli 

This team focuses on boosting Ayato's normal attack capability with Yun Jin's kit and Zhongli's Geo resonance. Xiangling is there to constantly applying Pyro for Vaporization triggers.

Ayato + Yoimiya team

• Ayato + Yoimiya + Yun Jin + Zhongli

Overall, this is the perfect team for Ayato. Players can replace Zhongli with Bennett if needed.

Ayato will act as the Main DPS for the team, dealing high damage with his skill using vaporize reactions and Yun Jin's buffs. Yoimiya can switch in to deal damage when Ayato's kit is on cooldown.

Yun Jin is the main buff support of the team, providing Normal Attack DMG and ATK SPD (if C6). The last slot can be either Zhongli or Bennett, depending on your preference. The former is geared toward defense while the latter is more focused on offense.

Noelle pure Geo team

• Noelle + Yun Jin + Gorou + Albedo

Players can definitely pair Yun Jin up with a number of Geo DPS like Itto, Noelle or Zhongli. While these pure Geo teams are not top-tier DPS or anything, they usually excel in both offense and defense and are easy to build/play.
