1. What are Genshin Impact expedition?

Expeditions are unlocked upon reaching AR 14. They can only be set and completed through Katheryne. To send characters on expeditions, just talk to any Katheryne from any region to gain access to the Expeditions menu.

To increase the number of expeditions that can be done simultaneously, you need to increase your Adventure Rank. Players can do 2/3/4/5 expeditions at the same time after reaching AR 14/26/31/36 respectively.

The rewards you can gain from expeditions are based on the selected location and duration. The available durations for the expedition are 4h, 8h, 12h, and 20h. The longer the expedition, the higher the reward.

If you bring a character back before the Expedition is completed, not only will the character come back with zero rewards, but the timer will also reset. In case you want to switch Expedition characters, you should call them back as soon as possible.

Characters that are K.O'd cannot be sent on expeditions until they are revived.

While all characters can be sent on expeditions, some are better than others. Currently, there are 2 types of expedition buffs in Genshin Impact: reduce expedition time and increase earned resources.

There are actually no real "best" Expeditions to farm, as it actually depends on your need. If you don't know what you need, the safest bet is to go for Mora or Crystal Chunk expeditions, as these are the materials that you would always need for weapon and character upgrades.
