Every so often, an older game gets a second wind. We’ve seen it happen with big names like No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 in recent years.
But Limbus Company? It’s taken things to another level, with its player count spiking by over 70,000 from June to July this year.
Limbus Company Sets New Record, Becoming One Of The Most Played Games Of The Year
If you’re not familiar, Limbus Company is a free-to-play strategy gacha game that dropped in February 2023. It’s all about you, the Executive Manager of Limbus Company, leading a crew of twelve Sinners to explore the buried facilities of Lobotomy Corporation and grab the Golden Boughs.
Today, the game got a big content update with new target extractions and E.G.Os. Players are clearly pumped about it, because they’re pouring back in huge numbers.
SteamDB says Limbus Company hit a peak of 115,862 players on Steam early Thursday morning. On top of that, ProjectMoon, the game’s developers, reported another 135,000 players joined in on mobile, pushing the total concurrent players past 250,000.
Before this surge, the game peaked at about 81,000 players in May, then dipped to around 45,000 last month. This new high of 115,000 is a massive 70,000 jump from June (a 157 percent increase) and about 35,000 more than its previous record (a 43 percent boost).
With 115,000 concurrent players, Limbus Company is one of Steam’s most-played games in 2025. Using SteamDB data, we found 35 games that hit a peak above 115,862 players this year, putting Limbus Company at the 36th spot for 2025’s highest concurrent player counts. That’s right up there with games like Mecha Break, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Call of Duty—not too shabby for a gacha game that’s been out for two and a half years.
