The 7.2 Archon Quest ending finally pulls back the curtain on Celestia. After the Nails of Retribution activate across Teyvat, the Holy Soil phenomenon (also called the Hallowing) begins. This is Celestia’s final punishment for a civilization that has transgressed. It erases everything and resets the world to the original Light Realm state, leaving nothing behind.
After completing a series of Trials of Usurpation for each nation, a massive doorway to Celestia appears in Chenyu Vale. The seven Archons (with Ningguang standing in for Zhongli), the Traveler, and their allies enter. Inside they meet Nukvah, an AI that serves as Celestia’s integrated computational array and acts on behalf of the Heavenly Principles.
The Truth About Allogenes
For years, players believed Allogenes were Vision bearers who ascended to Celestia and became gods. Vennessa from the manga was the classic example. Nukvah reveals the real outcome.
- Every Allogene’s mind, personality, and soul is stored inside one of the countless glowing orbs that fill Celestia.
- These orbs function as data cores. Nukvah uses them as fuel and reference material to design a new, more “manageable” civilization after the current one is wiped out.
- Vennessa exists only as one of these cores. The same fate awaits every Vision bearer who ever ascended.
In short, ascending to Celestia does not grant godhood. It turns people into living data for Celestia’s next cycle.
The 42-Day Ultimatum
Nukvah states that Teyvat has already committed an unforgivable transgression. The default program requires a full reset. As a final “reward” after the trials, each Archon is given 42 days to select one Vision bearer from their nation. The chosen Allogene will be preserved as an orb so their civilization’s “best” example can help shape the next world. After those 42 days, true annihilation arrives and the current Teyvat ceases to exist.
The earlier hope that completing the trials would stop the Hallowing is never granted. Nukvah simply records the Archons’ answers and proceeds with the countdown.
The Archons Choose to Fight
Faced with the truth, every Archon rejects the offer. They refuse to sacrifice any Vision bearer and agree to oppose Celestia directly. The Tsaritsa is especially clear about wanting to fight. Even Paimon and Furina, visibly shaken by the revelation, ultimately decide to resist. The group leaves Celestia knowing that following the will of heaven only leads to a dead end. In Celestia’s eyes, the people of Teyvat are fuel, samples, and test subjects in a sandbox.
The 7.2 ending sets up a direct confrontation. With only 42 days remaining, the Archons, the Traveler, and the nations of Teyvat now stand united against the Heavenly Principles. The long-standing mystery of Celestia has been answered, and the answer is far darker than most players expected.
