The OB51 patch brings in a new character named Nero. He'll join as the 65th character on the Free Fire roster, with an active ability that can change the game. Right now, the OB51 advance server is up and running, with the full rollout hitting after October 28.
We'll break down everything about Nero's skill here, plus tweaks to others such as Rin and Ford.
Nero Character
Nero is an incredible survivor. He endured the harshest and most brutal winter. On the brink of death, he gained the power to reshape dreams at will. In the world of dreams, he rules like an all-powerful king. He does everything on his own. But in the real world, he’s like an untraceable ghost; no one can ever find him.
Nero Ability: Cryo Mind
Nero's key move is Cryo Mind, a solid active skill that boosts both offense and protection. Here's the rundown on how it works, step by step:
- Pulse Throw: Nero can throw a 150-HP pulse (a creature-like plushie). The pulse will break after taking 150 damage.
- Duration: The pulse stays on the ground for 12 seconds.
- Range: It can be thrown up to 50 meters high in the air or 100 meters in Battle Royale mode.
- Enemy Detection: If an enemy is within 8 meters, the pulse automatically detects them, moves towards them, and explodes, creating an 8-meter radius “Dreamy Space” or shield.
- Effects Inside the Space:
- Neither the player nor enemies can place Gloo Walls.
- Enemies inside the space take 12 HP damage per second.
This thing could flip matches, especially when dealing with aggressive pushers. With the skill running, Gloo Walls are off-limits, throwing a wrench in enemy plans. Heads up: the final build might tweak a few bits based on tester feedback. This is straight from the advance server as it stands.
Other Character Ability Changes in OB51 Update
OB51 isn't just Nero's show—some characters are getting tuned for fairer play:
- Rin: Rin’s power has been increased. Now, Kunai throws have no delay, and high damage will trigger even at shorter distances, making Rin more aggressive.
- Kairos: Kairos’s power has been decreased. Previously, extra damage on shields or armor was 120%, now it is only 90%.
- Ford: Ford‘s HP recovery duration has been reduced from 4 seconds to 3 seconds.
These shifts should even things out and push everyone to rethink their approaches.
