Last year, Garena held the first international tournament ever for Free Fire, the Free Fire World Cup in Bangkok. The tournament was a great success with 1 million concurrent viewers peak. They hosted another international tournament called the Free Fire World Series in November and break their own record. The tournament got 2 million peak concurrent viewers, even more than The International 9, DOTA 2's biggest yearly event.
With all those achievements that they have gotten in 2019, they are going to make their esports scene bigger this year. There will be Free Fire leagues all around the world along with a total of 4 international Free Fire tournaments in 2020.
The first tournament will be the Free Fire Champion Cup, which will be held in April, in Jakarta, Indonesia. After that, there will be 2 more global events happen in June and July. These two tournaments will have different formats from the previous championships. Finally, at the end of the year, the Free Fire World Series will be coming back in December in Brazil. The total prize pool for these tournaments can get up to $2 million ( Rs 14 crore).
India will be having its own national qualifiers to pick out the best team that will represent the country to the international stages. The prize pool for these events in India can get up to Rs 1 crore.
In other news, the Free Fire India Championship (FFIC) 2020 registration is also about to end. The tournament features a huge total prize pool of Rs 35 lakh and the winner will be taking home Rs 15 lakh.
