Genshin Impact Fontaine Leak: Location, Expected Release Date, Characters, And More!

Based on the story trailer released 2 years ago, Genshin Impact's world of Teyvat is going to have at least 7 regions, one for each element. Currently, the fourth region of Dendro, Sumeru, have already come out with version 3.0.

However, Mihoyo has definitely made plans for the upcoming regions - the Hydro country of Fontaine is going to debut after Sumeru. In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase all the leaks available so far about Genshin Impact Fontaine.

1. About Fontaine's location and size

Thanks to new leaks from genshinBLANK, it is revealed that Fontaine lies to the north of Sumeru, where it connects to Liyue's Qiaoying Village. Ruled by the yet unnamed Hydro Archon, Fontaine values justice above all else. The Hydro Archon enforces its laws strictly, making this region one with some very harsh punishments for rulebreakers.

However, the nation also seems to prize technology and the arts. It even has a newspaper publication read all across Teyvat known as “The Steambird.” Most of the information surrounding Fontaine, however, comes from its NPCs. The country seems to be fairly advanced, with a high level of technology development compared to the rest of the Teyvat nations.

Given the size of the missing area between Liyue, Sumeru, and Mondstadt, Fontaine might be a very sizable nation. It is likely inspired by real-world France in the 1900s, based on the NPC's attire. The name of the nation is also “fountain” in French, which is fitting since it’s governed by the Hydro Archon.

2. List of Fontaine characters so far

Currently, the only revealed characters for Fontaine are Lyney and Lynette, who were featured in the story trailer. They are likely to be siblings, dressed in clothes befitting of a circus troupe.

Lyney looks like a magician, while Lynette has cat-like features and could be a trapeze artist.

With the featured character of the region usually being a 5-star, it is likely that at least one of them would have that rarity. Additionally, the Hydro archon would also be playable, similar to the previous 4 archons.

Fontaine has also been referenced in a number of quests:

Core of the Apparatus event: The traveler meets a toymaker named Bertrand who hails from Fontaine. By completing his set of quests, players will be able to get materials for toys. The resulting products are highly advanced devices with moving mechanical parts.
Tatara Tales World Quest: Xavier, a businessman from Fontaine, helped develop the Mikage Furnace found in Kannazuka, Inazuma. He turned to the Traveler for help after the device began to malfunction.

3. Genshin Impact Fontaine release date

With Sumeru nowhere near release, Fontaine's debut is most likely in Genshin Impact 4.0. This version might arrive around summer next year if the game follows its current update schedule.

Overall, the release of Fontaine should be on July 5th 2023 provided there won't be any extensions and Version 3.X ends at 3.7.
