Persona 5: The Phantom X is a Gacha spin-off of the classic game, bringing in fresh faces while keeping that familiar world. If you’ve played the original, some stuff might feel familiar, but it works a bit differently here. It can take a minute to get the hang of things, so this guide will steer you toward the best starting moves to make your adventure smooth.
Focus on the Main Missions
A lot of the game’s activities in P5X are locked until you hit certain levels, so your first job is to tackle the main missions. This opens up most of the game’s mechanics, lets you build your characters, and gets you ready for new events. Sometimes, you’ll need to level up Wonder to a specific rank to keep the story moving, but don’t sweat it—the activities below will help with that.
Prioritize Unlocking Personas for Wonder
Wonder can equip multiple Personas in P5X, letting him hit different enemy weaknesses. Early on, he’s stuck with just one, but you can unlock more by:
- Following Main Missions
- Working through Kiuchi’s Palace
- Battling Personas in the Realm of Repression
- Taking a shot at a Banner
Complete Your Daily & Weekly Quests
Knock out your daily and weekly quests to level up Wonder faster and avoid getting stuck behind level gates. These quests also throw in a bunch of rewards like ascension materials, Meta Crystals, and other goodies to help your account grow quick.
Make Sure to Complete Lufel's Plan Objectives
Lufel’s Plan is ready to go right from the start, and you should aim to finish all its steps, at least for Plan 1 in Persona 5: The Phantom X. Why bother? Because wrapping up all seven steps lets you pick one of three 5-Star Phantom Thieves, which you’d otherwise have to get lucky to score.
Complete 50 Pulls from Newcomer Banner
You’ll get a pile of Golden and Platinum tickets early on, so use them wisely. Don’t just pull from any banner—focus on multi-pulls from the Newcomer banner. Hitting 50 pulls there will also let you grab a 5-Star Phantom Thief from a choice of three.
Participate in the Take Your Heart Event
The first event for the global release of Persona 5: The Phantom X is Take Your Heart. It’s packed with activities and challenges to dive into early, plus it dishes out a ton of rewards for players who put in the time. The tasks aren’t too tough, either. If you’re a fan of the original, you’ll also get to hang out with the classic Phantom Thieves at Café LeBlanc, which is a nice bonus.
