It’s been almost a year since HoYoVerse launched Zenless Zone Zero, adding another role-playing fantasy gacha game to their lineup. After the massive success of Genshin Impact, the studio’s been trying out different styles, and fans are eating it up.

Zenless Zone Zero hit the scene on July 4, 2024, and gamers can’t get enough. It’s got a more forgiving system than Genshin Impact and feels closer to a classic JRPG, which has players hooked.

For the game’s first anniversary, WIT Studio put out a special video for Zenless Zone Zero, and it sent the HoYoVerse fanbase into a frenzy. It’s been ages since they teased a Genshin Impact anime, but it looks like they’re diving into other anime projects instead.

Will Zenless Zone Zero Get an Anime Before Genshin Impact?

HoYoVerse is no stranger to making animated shorts for their games. They’ve done tons for Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Honkai Impact 3rd, and others, and the quality is always top-notch, making fans feel even closer to the games. The Zenless Zone Zero anniversary video hit that same sweet spot.

Two years back, the official Genshin Impact YouTube channel dropped a concept trailer for its anime, teaming up with Ufotable, the folks behind Demon Slayer, known for their killer animation. But since then? Crickets. No release date, no title, nothing. Meanwhile, HoYoVerse seems to be eyeing other anime projects, and Zenless Zone Zero might be next in line.

It’s not a done deal that WIT Studio is working with HoYoVerse on a full Zenless Zone Zero anime, but they were tapped for that anniversary video. WIT’s done similar stuff for games like Persona 3 Reload. Fans wouldn’t mind a Zenless Zone Zero anime, though some are half-joking it’ll beat Genshin Impact’s anime to the punch.

WIT Studio’s got a solid track record with hits like Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Spy x Family, and they’re currently tackling the One Piece remake. They’d probably nail a Zenless Zone Zero anime.

Zenless Zone Zero Would Make a Solid Anime, But WIT Studio’s Plate Is Full

WIT Studio’s got a rep for handing off projects to other studios. They worked on Attack on Titan for three seasons and Vinland Saga for one before MAPPA took over. So, can WIT handle a Zenless Zone Zero anime with their current workload? If the animation quality dips, fans might not be happy.

There’s also the question of whether a Zenless Zone Zero anime makes sense right now. The game’s only a year old and its story isn’t as developed as Genshin Impact, which is nearing its endgame. If Zenless Zone Zero gets an anime first, it’d be a shock and maybe a letdown for Genshin fans. Plus, Ufotable’s tied up with the Demon Slayer movie trilogy, and anime projects take years. So, we might be waiting a while either way.
